Brittany Mahomes' euphoric reaction to Patrick's first touchdown since his terrible injury
Brittany had been counting down to the moment after watching her husband spend months rehabbing his knee

After spending months beside her husband through a grueling knee rehabilitation, Brittany Mahomes was inside Arrowhead Stadium when Patrick finally returned to the end zone. Brittany didn't try to hide what the moment meant.
Nine months after Patrick Mahomes suffered the knee injury that ended his 2025 season, Brittany watched from inside Arrowhead Stadium as her husband ran for the Kansas City Chiefs ’ first touchdown of the new campaign against the Denver Broncos. Her reaction came almost immediately.
“HESSSSSS BACKKKKKKKK,” Brittany wrote on Instagram Stories alongside video showing the celebration inside the stadium. It was the culmination of an offseason she had experienced from much closer than most.
Patrick underwent surgery after tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee against the Los Angeles Chargers in December, then committed himself to an intensive rehabilitation program aimed at getting back in time for Week 1.
Brittany had seen that process unfold at home as well as around the Chiefs ’ facility, making Monday night’s touchdown more than just another scoring play.
Counting down to Patrick’s return
Her anticipation was clear hours before kickoff. “I’m so ready for this!” Brittany posted earlier Monday as the Chiefs prepared to begin their season.
She was also on the sideline before the game and shared a kiss with Patrick before he took the field. When SportsCenter later posted footage of the moment with the caption “Family first,” Brittany responded in the comments with, “My baby.”
That sequence captured the personal side of a comeback that had otherwise been framed largely around medical timelines, football conditioning and Kansas City’s hopes of restoring Mahomes to the lineup.
Brittany and Patrick have been together since high school, long before his rise into one of the NFL’s biggest stars. She has been a constant presence throughout his career and has frequently shared the family’s biggest football moments with fans. Monday night was another one.
The work Brittany saw behind the scenes
Chiefs coach Andy Reid offered some perspective during training camp on just how much work Mahomes put into being ready.
“He spent his offseason here,” Reid said. “He didn’t go anywhere. Seven hours a day, he was there working... and it pays off for him.”
Brittany had a front-row seat to much of that journey. That made her first-quarter celebration particularly fitting when Mahomes kept the ball and crossed the goal line for Kansas City’s opening touchdown of the season.
She continued sharing Chiefs posts about the score afterward, turning her Instagram Stories into a running celebration of her husband’s comeback.
The touchdown itself belonged to Patrick . The emotion surrounding it belonged just as much to Brittany , who had spent months watching the work required to make the moment possible.
