Every year around this time, fans of every NFL team become up in arms due to one of their favorite players from the preseason not making the final 53-man roster. This year's Kansas City Chiefs team is no exception.

There really weren't too many intense camp battles for the cuts to be controversial. Running back Emari Demercado not making the cut was a bit surprising, but it wasn't a full-on shock. For some fans, the true crime was wide receiver Andrew Armstrong not earning a roster spot.

Kansas City Chiefs fans upset that Andrew Armstrong got cut in favor of Nikko Remigio

What appears to annoy fans more than Armstrong not making it at all, is that Nikko Remigio is the one who's taking his place. Remigio has been with the team since 2023 , but has only caught three passes for 69 yards since then.

Remigio's calling card is as a returner , where he's just about league average. A lot of Chiefs fans don't like how much influence, they believe, special teams coordinator Dave Toub has in decisions like these.

Armstrong caught five passes for 54 yards in the team's final preseason game , following a strong training camp. But it wasn't enough for the 25-year-old wideout to make the cut.

The Chiefs coaching staff decided to prioritize special teams contributions over flat-out better wide receiver play for the final spot in the position room.
