With a win tonight against the Washington Commanders , the San Francisco 49ers will remain one of the three unbeaten teams in the NFL alongside the Minnesota Vikings , who rested on their bye week, and the Kansas City Chiefs , who have put the whole league on notice that they are back and ready to compete against any team to go back to their Super Bowl days.

The Chiefs easily defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 22-6 on Sunday, with Kenneth Walker III shining once again as he rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns. That explosive effort allowed Walker to join Calvin Johnson (2011) as the only two players with 2+ touchdowns in four of their team's first five games of a season since the AFL-NFL merger.

Up next for Kansas City is a matchup against Walker's former team, the Seattle Seahawks , who extended their franchise record during a Thursday loss to Denver to 35 straight games without allowing a 100-yard rusher , and now face their former star and reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Kenneth Walker III Unlocks Uncharted Offense for Patrick Mahomes

With his dominant performance on Sunday, Walker now boasts a league-leading 665 rushing yards despite playing one fewer game than Bijan Robinson (641) and James Cook (627) , who round out this year's top three ground gainers after six weeks.

Walker has also accumulated eight total touchdowns on the campaign, helping Patrick Mahomes feel significantly less pressure under center while providing Kansas City with a high-volume ground game he has never experienced in his decorated career.

In fact, Walker's 665 rushing yards through five appearances already surpass Kareem Hunt's 611 rushing yards across the entire 2025 season, making him the most prolific backfield partner Mahomes has ever lined up beside.

Across his first five games with the franchise, Walker became just the sixth player in NFL history to log at least 750 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns in that opening stretch, a pristine club that includes Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown , Eric Dickerson , Marshall Faulk , Emmitt Smith , and former Chiefs icon Priest Holmes .

Kansas City's upcoming clash against Seattle next Sunday promises plenty of drama as Walker returns to confront his former club, showcasing their mistake in letting him go while leading the entire league in rushing yards.
