New angle shows Tyquan Thornton getting up unaware of horrific injury
Thornton’s adrenaline was so high that he appeared not to realize how badly he was hurt

The Kansas City Chiefs topped the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 to keep their perfect 4-0 record, but at the same time, they were dealt a potentially major blow. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a gruesome left leg injury late in the fourth quarter that will presumably knock him out for the rest of the campaign.
The images from the moment were intense, but a new fan-shot angle makes the scene even more striking . It shows just how much adrenaline can take over for an athlete , allowing them to keep moving without immediately realizing the physical pain they are experiencing.
A new angle reveals what Thornton did moments after going down
That was exactly what happened with Thornton. The new video shows that he did not appear to realize the seriousness of his injury at the time. Somehow, the Chiefs wide receiver got back to his feet and even signaled for a first down before the pain forced him back to the ground . Head coach Andy Reid later acknowledged that the injury did not look good while also praising Thornton’s attitude.
The adrenaline appeared to mask the severity of the pain for a moment. Thornton eventually went back down because he could not put weight on his foot, which was visibly hanging . It was a difficult scene to watch. After he was back on the ground and unable to get up, Mike Caliendo asked if he was okay. When Thornton mentioned his ankle, Mike could not bring himself to look at it and instead turned away to ask for help.
The Chiefs could now have a major problem at wide receiver
The situation is even more concerning for Kansas City because questions around the receiving corps had already emerged after WR1 Rashee Rice left the game on the second drive with a hamstring strain. The Chiefs could now be without two of their top three wideouts when they return from the bye in Week 6.
Those circumstances have made a potential Tyreek Hill reunion in Kansas City difficult to ignore. Unsurprisingly, more reports linking Hill with his former team have surfaced since the final whistle against the Raiders. Before his injury, Thornton had delivered a huge performance, recording five receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Kansas City’s 30-27 win.
