Proud Wife Era: Brittany Mahomes celebrates Patrick's return to elite form in thrilling victory over the Colts

Brittany Mahomes didn't need a long caption to sum up what she had just watched. After Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 33-30 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, Brittany posted a five-word reaction to her Instagram Story that reflected the chaos of the evening.

“That was a game wow,” she wrote. The Chiefs quarterback completed 32 of 47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns as Kansas City improved to 2-0, continuing a strong start to a season that carries extra significance after the team missed the playoffs last year.

Mahomes ’ performance also provided another encouraging sign in his return from the ACL injury he suffered last December.

The final numbers were impressive, but Mahomes made clear afterward that Kansas City had to grind through stretches in which the offense was far from its best.

“I mean, I think guys were resilient, and we just strained to finish,” Mahomes said.

“It wasn't always pretty. There were times we didn't execute at a high level. But guys continued to fight and continued to push and we found a way at the end.”

That ability to recover from mistakes and still close out games has long been one of Kansas City’s defining traits during the Mahomes era. Sunday’s win offered another example, with the Chiefs forced deep into the night before finally putting Indianapolis away.

Brittany ’s reaction went beyond the five-word post. She also reshared a photo from friend Dani Austin Ramirez and acknowledged just how emotionally invested she had been while watching from a suite at Arrowhead.

“Sorry you had to hear me scream and say a lot of bad words for several hours,” Brittany wrote.

Her support has been especially visible during Mahomes ’ comeback from knee surgery.

When the quarterback returned to training camp in July, Brittany celebrated the moment by sharing team footage and writing: “Seeing him back doing what he loves. So thankful.”

Mahomes has previously credited his wife with allowing him to keep his focus on football.

“I think people don’t even realize how much she does,” he said during a 2024 appearance on the “Impaulsive” podcast. “[She’s] a Hall of Fame mom and a Hall of Fame wife.”

The Chiefs now turn their attention to Week 3, when they travel to face the Miami Dolphins on September 27. Kansas City will arrive at 2-0, while Miami is 0-2 after losing to San Francisco.

If Sunday night was any indication, Brittany may want to prepare for another stressful few hours.
