Randi Mahomes has seemingly picked a side in a playful family debate, naming Jackson her “favorite son” and giving Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes an opening to be teased.

The exchange appeared on Instagram after Kansas City’s 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on October 18, when the Chiefs improved to 5-0.

Jackson, Patrick’s younger brother, posted a photo of himself on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium, wearing a green hoodie from one of his brand partners.

The post might have passed without much fuss, but Randi joined the comments with a short message that quickly became the highlight.

“Favorite son,” she wrote.

Jackson was ready with a cheeky reply: “I already know; don’t be mad @patrickmahomes.” By tagging Patrick, Jackson no doubt meant to turn their mother’s comment into a little sibling rivalry.

Patrick and Jackson Mahomes have a long history of sibling teasing

The brothers grew up in Tyler, Texas, with their mother, Randi , and father, Pat Mahomes , a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for several teams.

Their careers took different directions: Patrick became one of the NFL’s leading quarterbacks, while Jackson built a following as a social media personality, posting lifestyle content and sharing moments from his visits to Chiefs games.

He’s also acknowledged that being Patrick’s brother brings opportunities, though their relationship extends beyond the attention.

Jackson spoke warmly about their bond in his first YouTube video, released in May 2020. He described Patrick as a cool person and said they were very close. That closeness has also been visible during important moments in Patrick’s life: Jackson was his best man when Patrick married Brittany Mahomes in March 2022.

Meanwhile, Patrick’s family life continues to produce memorable moments.

His three-year-old son, Bronze , recently joined him after a postgame press conference and cheerfully told reporters, “Bye-bye,” prompting laughter as they left the room.

Patrick has also revealed that Bronze enjoys playing tackle football at home, meaning the quarterback’s breaks from the NFL aren’t always restful.

“The only thing that’s changed is chasing kids around more,” Mahomes said.

“As they get older, it’s not as much laying around and not doing anything. You’re home now. You’re dad. So you have to be around. You have to chase kids around. Bronze loves to play tackle now.”

Brittany recently called her husband “Dad of the year” after sharing footage of him helping Bronze practice baseball in heavy rain.

Randi’s latest comment might have temporarily crowned Jackson the favorite, but Patrick has plenty to celebrate beyond football.
