Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce hit first hurdle after buying $5M home near Cleveland
One proposed change to waterfront property has divided opinion

T aylor Swift and Travis Kelce ’s new Ohio home was supposed to offer privacy, space and a connection to Kelce’ s hometown roots. Instead, one part of the couple’s plan for the property has reportedly become a source of neighborhood tension.
The issue centers on fencing around their $5.35 million estate in Bratenahl, an affluent village on Lake Erie just outside Cleveland.
According to celebrity gossip outlet Deuxmoi, some nearby residents objected to an early version of the plan because they feared it could affect their lake views.
“A source tells Deuxmoi the couple is allegedly putting up a fence around the property and some neighbors aren’t exactly thrilled, claiming it could interfere with their lake views,” the outlet wrote.
The dispute reportedly led to a meeting with neighbors, while a portion of the proposal that would have extended fencing farther toward the beach has since been dropped.
“According to the source, that portion of the plan has since been scrapped,” Deuxmoi reported.
Security concerns at high-profile home
The desire for more privacy is hardly surprising. Kelce and Swift are among the most recognizable couples in the country, and interest in their movements has remained intense.
Fans reportedly began visiting the property after the purchase became public, adding another reason for the couple to consider stronger security measures.
The estate itself offers plenty of seclusion on paper. Known as Moyenage, the historic Tudor-style mansion sits on roughly 3.5 acres and spans more than 21,000 square feet.
Built in 1895, it includes eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a guest cottage, a home theater, wine cellar, fitness center, sauna and a heated pool overlooking Lake Erie.
Kelce purchased the home for $5.35 million after it had previously been listed for $6.99 million. Neighbors have otherwise offered a warm welcome
The reported disagreement over the fence doesn't appear to have soured the broader reception to Swift and Kelce’s arrival.
Bratenahl resident Sharon Klonowski told The New York Times she hoped the couple might eventually participate in a local fundraising tradition that opens lakefront homes to visitors.
“I don’t want to jinx it,” Klonowski said. “But I bet Taylor and Travis would do it in a heartbeat.”
Bratenahl Mayor John Licastro struck a similar tone, emphasizing both friendliness and privacy.
“We take pride in being a welcoming community, where people can feel connected to their neighbors and also comfortable enjoying their private lives,” Licastro said.
“Part of being a good neighbor is offering a warm welcome, and also giving people the privacy and space to simply be at home, no matter who lives next door.”
The location carries personal meaning for Kelce , who grew up nearby in Cleveland Heights.
“Getting Tay back to Cleveland and showing her my roots is always something I love doing,” he said on the New Heights podcast.
That makes the new property more than another addition to the couple’s real estate portfolio.
The challenge now is finding a security solution that gives Swift and Kelce the privacy they want without creating a lasting issue with the neighbors they have just joined.
