Taylor Swift doesn't want to be in Kansas City: She refuses to get “trapped” there while Travis Kelce plays another season

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are entering their first full football season as a married couple, but that doesn't mean the singer is expected to build her entire routine around Kansas City.

While Kelce is back in the weekly grind of the NFL, Swift reportedly plans to keep moving between the cities and commitments that already shape her life.

The pair married at Madison Square Garden in July, but their schedules quickly pulled them in different directions once Chiefs training camp began.

Hollywood insider Rob Shuter said Swift has no intention of relocating to Kansas City on a full-time basis for the 2026 season.

“Taylor Swift is not moving to Kansas City for a year. Not going to happen,” Shuter said on Maureen Callahan’s The Nerve podcast.

Swift currently has no tour schedule forcing her to remain on the road. Shuter argued that she could, in theory, base herself wherever she wanted while writing or recording new music.

“She could take her piano, she could take her guitar, and she could write a new album and call it the Kansas City album,” he said. “She could do that if she wanted to. She doesn’t want to.”

Determined to keep her own life moving

Since the wedding, Swift has continued to spend time away from Missouri, with appearances in London, New York and Los Angeles.

Shuter suggested that is less about the state of the marriage and more about Swift being unwilling to give up the lifestyle and flexibility she has built around her career.

“He’s locked down for a year, and she doesn’t want to be there,” he said. “She’s having a great time in London. She’s been in New York. We saw her in LA. So, she’s hanging with her friends.”

Kelce , meanwhile, doesn't have the same freedom once the season begins.

The Chiefs tight end is preparing for his 14th NFL campaign and will once again be tied to practices, meetings, travel and the week-to-week demands of a team trying to compete deep into the season.

That contrast could make their first year of marriage look very different from the traditional newlywed setup, with long stretches of the calendar dictated by Kelce ’s football obligations.

Kelce clear where his focus is

Despite the separation that comes with their schedules, Kelce has spoken warmly about married life.

On New Heights, he called the wedding “a night out we’ll never forget” and described the event as “so magical.”

“Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, from the vows to just seeing everyone, to how much fun we had, throughout the entire evening,” Kelce said.

He also highlighted how much it meant to see the different parts of their lives come together.

“It was so cool to see everyone from my childhood not only mesh with Taylor, but [the people] from her childhood and her family and friends,” he added.

The next phase of their marriage is likely to look far less glamorous. Kelce is committed to another Chiefs season, while Swift appears set to preserve the independence and mobility that defined her life long before the wedding.
