The Cheetah Strikes Again: Tyreek Hill sends special message to Patrick Mahomes before NFL kickoff
Hill remains unsigned, but latest reaction has once again put Kansas City at center of his NFL future

Tyreek Hill hasn't yet signed with a new NFL team, but he has done little to quiet speculation about a possible return to the Kansas City Chiefs .
The veteran wide receiver remains a free agent while recovering from the knee injury that ended his 2025 season, yet his latest social-media reaction put Patrick Mahomes, and their old Chiefs partnership, back in the spotlight.
Hill responded after a clip resurfaced from Kansas City’s unforgettable 2022 playoff win over Buffalo, when Mahomes found him for a 64-yard touchdown during the frantic closing stages.
“Pat a wild boy for even throwing this,” Hill wrote on X. The comment was simple, but the timing was enough to reopen a familiar question that Hill could eventually reunite with Mahomes.
Creating some of Kansas City’s biggest moments
Few quarterback-receiver pairings were more dangerous during Hill’s six seasons with the Chiefs .
That divisional-round win over Josh Allen and the Bills remains one of the clearest examples. Hill finished the game with 11 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown as Kansas City escaped with a 42-36 overtime victory.
The Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals . Hill was traded to Miami shortly afterward when contract negotiations with Kansas City broke down.
His individual production remained elite with the Dolphins , including 1,710 receiving yards in 2022 and 1,799 the following season, but Miami never made the same postseason breakthrough Hill enjoyed alongside Mahomes.
Kansas City, meanwhile, won two more Super Bowls after his departure. That contrast has kept the idea of a reunion alive long after the original partnership ended.
Hill’s health remains biggest obstacle
The more immediate issue is whether Hill is physically ready to return.
He suffered a dislocated knee and multiple ligament tears against the New York Jets in Week 4 last season, ending his year after 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus , has made clear that Hill won't rush the next step. Rosenhaus said on The Pat McAfee Show that Hill wants to “take his time” and choose “the right team” once his recovery is further along.
Hill himself has also fueled the Kansas City speculation. He previously posted a photo of himself in a Chiefs uniform with the caption, “Soon my dear friend.”
Nothing has been confirmed, and no deal appears imminent. At 32 and coming off a major injury, Hill would also be returning under very different circumstances than when he left Kansas City as one of the NFL’s premier deep threats.
Still, the connection is difficult to ignore. Hill and Mahomes produced some of the most explosive football of their era together, and every public nod between the two is enough to bring the possibility of one more run back into the conversation.
