The love story of Patrick and Brittany Mahomes who went from a small town to dominating the Super Bowl
From teenage sweethearts in Whitehouse, Texas, to marriage, three children and multiple Super Bowl celebrations, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have built their lives alongside one another

Long before Patrick Mahomes became one of the NFL's most recognizable quarterbacks, he was a teenager in Whitehouse, Texas, sharing school hallways with Brittany Matthews .
Their relationship began when they were students at Whitehouse High School in 2012, years before Patrick would be drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and turn into a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
The two were both athletes, although they followed different paths. Patrick developed into a standout multi-sport player, competing in football, baseball and basketball, while Brittany established herself as a talented soccer player.
Their relationship survived the transition from high school into college, with Patrick attending Texas Tech and Brittany playing soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.
That period was important because Patrick's professional future was still uncertain. He eventually chose football over baseball and entered the 2017 NFL Draft, where Kansas City selected him 10th overall.
The Chiefs ' decision ultimately changed the course of both his career and the family's future.
Brittany , meanwhile, continued pursuing soccer and later played professionally in Iceland before developing her own fitness business.
She also became involved in the Kansas City Current , the National Women's Soccer League club she co-founded with Patrick as an ownership group member.
Patrick's rise in Kansas City was rapid. He became the Chiefs ' starting quarterback in 2018 and won the NFL MVP award in his first season as a starter.
A year later, Kansas City reached Super Bowl LIV, where Mahomes led the Chiefs past the San Francisco 49ers to secure his first championship.
Brittany was there throughout the transformation from promising young quarterback to NFL superstar.
The relationship reached another major milestone in September 2020, when Patrick proposed to Brittany at Arrowhead Stadium shortly after the Chiefs' Super Bowl ring ceremony.
By then, the couple had already spent roughly eight years together. Their family soon began to grow as well.
From teenage romance to a family celebrating Super Bowl victories
Patrick and Brittany welcomed their first child, daughter Sterling Skye, in February 2021. Sterling later played a special role in her parents' wedding when Patrick and Brittany married in Maui, Hawaii, on March 12, 2022.
Their daughter served as part of the ceremony, while Patrick's brother Jackson was his best man and Travis Kelce was among the wedding party.
The timing of their marriage also coincided with one of the most successful stretches of Patrick's NFL career.
The Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles following the 2022 season, giving Mahomes his second championship.
Brittany and Sterling joined him on the field after the victory, becoming part of the familiar family celebrations that followed Kansas City's biggest wins.
Later that year, the couple welcomed their second child, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III , in November 2022. Their third child, daughter Golden Raye , arrived in January 2025.
The family of five has since become a regular presence around Chiefs games, training camp and other major moments in Patrick's career.
The Chiefs then produced another championship season. Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, making Mahomes a three-time Super Bowl champion. Brittany and the children again celebrated with him on the field after the victory.
Their story has continued beyond the football field. Patrick and Brittany have appeared together at sporting and entertainment events, while Brittany has built a public profile of her own through fitness, soccer and business ventures.
Patrick has also repeatedly spoken about the importance of family as he navigates the demands of being an NFL quarterback.
That support was particularly visible during his recovery from a serious knee injury suffered late in the 2025 season. When Mahomes returned for Kansas City's 2026 season opener against Denver on September 14, Brittany was waiting for him on the sideline.
The Chiefs won 31-10, and the couple shared a kiss following his return to action.
The family has also continued to grow away from football. In August 2026, Mahomes said that even during the intensity of training camp, he makes a point of staying connected with Brittany.
He described family, friends, teammates and his foundation work as important parts of keeping perspective beyond football.
From two teenagers at Whitehouse High School to a married couple raising three children while Patrick competes for the Chiefs, the Mahomes story has unfolded alongside one of the NFL's defining modern dynasties.
Their relationship began before the trophies, contracts and international fame, and Brittany has remained part of Patrick's journey through the highs, setbacks and championship celebrations.
