The White House drags Taylor Swift into the nightmare of Travis Kelce's Ponzi scheme and sparks fans' fury
The Kansas City Chiefs star was identified as a victim of a $35 million fraud scheme.

T ravis Kelce has been pulled into a political spotlight after The White House referenced his status as a victim of a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme in a post promoting its work against financial crime. Kelce was among 64 victims of Siddharth Jawahar ’s $35 million Ponzi scheme, although prosecutors have not disclosed how much the Kansas City Chiefs tight end invested or ultimately lost.
But nonetheless, after Jawahar was sentenced to 11 years in prison whilst facing the risk of deportation, The White House account took the chance to weigh in via social media. “This is why we do what we do,” The White House wrote via X.com, formerly Twitter. “Seems like a good time to re-up the work of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.” The post then added: “Oh and it looks like the next draft pick to join the Task Force is @tkelce!” Jawahar pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud after prosecutors said he collected more than $35 million through Swiftarc Capital between 2016 and 2023. Only about $10 million was actually invested, prosecutors said. The remaining funds were used to repay investors and finance what authorities described as an extravagant lifestyle and Jawahar was also ordered to pay $31.35 million in restitution. Prosecutors said his spending included private jets, luxury accommodations, expensive restaurants and memberships at private clubs, but Kelce ’s investment amount and the timing of his involvement have not been disclosed. However, his name was mentioned during Jawahar ’s sentencing, but prosecutors did not provide any further details about the three-time Super Bowl winning NFL star’s losses.
Not the first time Trump’s Administration has struck close to Kelce
Kelce and Taylor Swift have previously been drawn into political commentary involving President Donald Trump after the popstar endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign. A strongly worded post endorsing the Democratic candidate, who eventually lost the election in November that year, prompted an equally strong response from the Republican ’s victorious Trump . The 80-year-old said he was “not a fan of Taylor Swift” in September 2024 and later wrote that he “hated” the singer – although he said he liked Kelce , but suggesting the Chiefs star might be liberal and may dislike the POTUS . The backlash to the 36-year-old singer then continued around the 2025 Super Bowl , when Swift was booed after appearing on the stadium screen as Trump later addressed the reaction on Truth Social. "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “Was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!" The latest White House post places Kelce back into the crosshairs of the Republican administration, although he got off this time with just a light-hearted joke.
