Travis Kelce gives honest take on “epic” sneaker Nike Caitlin 1 by Caitlin Clark
The NFL star has picked his favorite sneaker designs, with Taylor Swift influencing choice
T ravis Kelce has plenty of reasons to appreciate Caitlin Clark 's new Nike signature sneaker, but it is the personal story behind the designs that has impressed the Kansas City Chiefs star most.
The three-time Super Bowl champion has revealed his favorite versions of the Caitlin 1 , highlighting unexpected connections to his NFL team and girlfriend Taylor Swift after the debut signature basketball shoe launched on October 1.
With an initial $140 releases attracting immediate demand and selling out quickly, the Caitlin Blue and Warning Code designs were also introduced as parts of the collection, and Kelce has already identified two upcoming colorways that reflect interests he shares with the Indiana Fever guard.
The tight end admitted that his preferences were influenced by more than just appearance, and both the Sea of Reds and friendship bracelets designs stood out because of their connections to Kansas City and Swift .
"I'm a little biased towards the Sea of Reds — the Chiefs colors…,” Kelce told his brother Jason on their New Heights show. “I'm also kind of biased towards the friendship bracelets ones. Yeah, I mean there's not a bad colorway, and the shoe is pretty epic."
The Sea of Reds design reflects Clark 's lifelong support for the Chiefs , while the friendship bracelets theme draws inspiration from her admiration for Swift, and those details have helped make the collection feel more personal.
"I'm pretty sure you can throw any color on it; it's gonna be a dope shoe," Kelce continued. "But it's the meaning behind some of them that are pretty fun for me. The fact that Caitlin's been a Chiefs fan her whole life.
"Caitlin's been a Taylor Swift fan her whole life and created a shoe that not only represents and kind of shows that side of her off the court, but at the same time look pretty f**king dope."
Clark's growing influence extends beyond the WNBA
The endorsement did not go unnoticed by Clark , who reposted Kelce 's comments to her Instagram Story without adding a caption. Her response was understated, allowing the Chiefs star's enthusiastic assessment to speak for itself.
And the sneaker launch represents another important commercial milestone for Clark , whose popularity has continued growing since she entered the WNBA in 2024, although the Fever ’s season ended with a first-round playoff defeat to the Las Vegas Aces .
The 2024 Rookie of the Year 's influence remains evident beyond the basketball court. Kelce , meanwhile, has enjoyed a considerably stronger start to his team's campaign in the NFL .
Kansas City have opened the season with four consecutive victories as the Chiefs have beaten the Denver Broncos , Indianapolis Colts , Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders , putting them atop the AFC West ahead of their Week 6 game.
Kelce has scored two touchdowns and added 246 yards on 16 catches to prove why he remains one of the best tight ends in the NFL , even at the age of 37 and likely into his final season in the sport.
