Travis Kelce practically admits refs turned blind eye in Chiefs win over Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end absolutely got away with one on Patrick Mahomes' rushing touchdown.

The Kansas City Chiefs got off to the best possible start in Week 1 . Taking the national stage for Monday Night Football , Andy Reid 's team dismantled the Denver Broncos , a Super Bowl contender in many analysts' eyes.

The Chiefs defense and running back Kenneth Walker were the stars of the show, but it was extremely encouraging that Patrick Mahomes didn't appear hindered by the knee injury he suffered near the tail end of last season. In fact, he rushed seven times in total and even scrambled for a 15-yard touchdown .

Travis Kelce clearly committed a holding penalty that wasn't called on Patrick Mahomes' rushing touchdown

That touchdown was quite controversial, though. Mahomes had a different rushing touchdown, a five-yarder, called back on the previous play due to a holding penalty by left tackle Kahlil Benson . Then, on the touchdown that counted, tight end Travis Kelce quite clearly committed a holding penalty on Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga , who was getting into position to tackle Mahomes before he reached the end zone.

Kelce got away with it, although social media went crazy over the missed call - once again fueling conspiracy theories. Even Kelce himself couldn't help but admit the refs totally missed it .

It was definitely a questionable play. That's one of those where you get up slowly like, 'please don't be any laundry on the field'. Had the man up by his neck. Can't do it. Can't do it. Almost cost us. And to be honest, that would've been Pat Mahomes' second rushing touchdown called back in two plays... And that would've taken us out of the red zone.

Travis and his brother Jason Kelce couldn't help but laugh at the Chiefs tight end outright admitting he benefitted greatly from the refs turning a blind eye to a clear hold. Fans probably won't think it's that funny, though.
