Tyreek Hill blames his ex-wife for his career decline while making explosive new accusations: Chiefs are considering it
The free-agent wide receiver made a series of startling claims during divorce proceedings in Miami

T yreek Hill ’s potential return to the NFL is unfolding against the backdrop of a contentious court battle, with the former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins star making explosive accusations about his estranged wife while explaining how their marriage affected his football career.
Hill testified for approximately two hours on Thursday, October 8, during a civil case connected to his divorce from Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill in Miami.
His testimony included allegations of financial disputes, arguments over a postnuptial agreement and claims that the turmoil in their relationship contributed to a decline in his performances on the field.
The 32-year-old wide receiver, currently a free agent, also acknowledged pushing his wife against a wall during an argument, leaving a hole in the structure.
He denied numerous other allegations of physical abuse made by Vaccaro , who is seeking damages in the civil proceedings. The allegations have not been established as findings of liability, and Hill has denied them.
One of the most striking parts of Hill’s testimony concerned his belief that the marriage had affected his ability to perform at the highest level in the NFL.
"I felt like If you look at my career before and my career after I got married it was, like, trending down," he testified. "And it was, like, bad. I was like, man, am I really putting this product on the field? Do I really look that bad? It was hard."
Hill’s comments offered a glimpse into how he says the relationship affected him personally and professionally. However, his explanation represents his own account of the situation rather than an established explanation for his on-field decline.
The receiver’s recent career has also been affected by circumstances unrelated to his marriage. He suffered a serious knee injury during the 2025 season, requiring surgery and an extended rehabilitation process.
Miami subsequently released him, leaving him to pursue his next NFL opportunity as he worked toward returning to full fitness.
Hill details financial disputes and admits to pushing his wife against a wall
According to Hill , disagreements over money and a postnuptial agreement were among the main sources of conflict during the couple’s 18-month marriage.
"Obviously, the postnup is definitely one of the constant arguments and then finances," Hill said. "I think that's a very important topic that has to be explored through this whole entire thing.
"Then money getting stolen, and the mother of my kids. I would literally have conversations with the mothers of my [other] kids and she would be, 'You're doing, X, Y, Z with them. You're being intimate with them. Those were the primary arguments."
Hill alleged that Vaccaro took money from a family account without his permission, claiming the amounts increased significantly after they married. He testified that she had initially taken $10,000 before their wedding and later received money on a much larger scale.
"I was like, babe, why you stealing money?" Hill testified. "All you have to do is say, 'help me out.' She stole money then. She stole money during the marriage while getting what she was already getting, which she was getting $15K.
"Then she was taking around $60K a month and I would see that and it'd be, 'You're giving this person this and that person that.'"
Hill also claimed that Vaccaro’s monthly spending reached $100,000 on one occasion. These statements were accusations made during his testimony and should not be treated as independently established facts.
The testimony became particularly serious when Hill discussed a physical confrontation that he acknowledged had taken place.
Vaccaro had described multiple alleged incidents of abuse during her own testimony earlier in the week. Hill denied most of those claims but admitted to one incident in which he said an argument escalated as he attempted to leave.
"As I'm getting my clothes, I feel somebody brush up behind me," Hill said. "And that person brushing up behind me is my wife, and I'm like, hold on, hold on ... That continued for like five minutes.
"I told her don't you ever touch me again in your life. I pushed her against the wall. And I tried to force her to get off me. I created a hole in the wall, trying to force her to get off me that night."
Hill said he later felt remorse about the confrontation and did not want his daughter to witness that kind of behavior.
"I didn't want to be that in front of my daughter," he said. "I felt embarrassed, you know what I'm saying?"
He also acknowledged making threatening statements during an argument, saying he had warned Vaccaro that he knew people who could hurt her.
"I did, I did make statements about she wasn't safe," Hill said. "I did make statements about me being able to get people to hurt her. Like now, looking back, I wish I could have handled that situation better.
"I wish I could have talked to my wife better. I wish I could take it all back."
Vaccaro has accused Hill of additional acts of physical and emotional abuse, including incidents she said occurred during pregnancy. Hill denied those allegations.
The civil case is intended to address the competing accounts and Vaccaro’s claims for damages; no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the allegations at issue in the trial.
Hill also made a claim about the fire that destroyed the couple’s Broward County home, accusing Vaccaro of indirectly contributing to the circumstances surrounding it. He further described disagreements about family members staying at their home and alleged that Vaccaro objected to his relatives being around their daughter.
The proceedings were expected to continue on Friday, giving Vaccaro’s legal team an opportunity to question Hill about his account.
The Chiefs are considering a reunion as Hill’s future remains uncertain
The legal proceedings arrive at a significant moment for Hill’s football future. Kansas City has reportedly shown strong interest in bringing the veteran receiver back, with injuries to key members of the Chiefs ’ receiving corps creating a potential opening.
The Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 on October 4, but the victory came at a cost. Rashee Rice suffered a hamstring injury, while Tyquan Thornton sustained a serious ankle injury that left him sidelined indefinitely.
Those setbacks prompted renewed discussion about whether Hill could provide a solution as he works toward returning from his own knee injury.
Hill spent the first six seasons of his NFL career in Kansas City, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous deep threats before being traded to Miami in 2022.
His speed and ability to generate explosive plays made him a central part of the Chiefs ’ offense during their Super Bowl-winning campaign.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus , has indicated that Hill is speaking with multiple teams and could sign with a contender.
Reporting from The Athletic, cited by NBC Sports, has described Kansas City as very interested in a reunion, although Hill’s medical condition and readiness to play remain important considerations. A deal has not been confirmed.
A return to Kansas City would give Hill an opportunity to restart his career with a familiar organization, but it would also put him back under intense public scrutiny while the civil case continues.
The Chiefs must weigh his potential contribution on the field against questions about his health and the wider circumstances surrounding his departure from Miami.
For now, Hill’s testimony has placed his personal life and professional future in the spotlight at the same time. His claims that marital conflict affected his performance are part of his explanation for a difficult period, but his injury history and time away from the field also matter when assessing his prospects.
The next stage of the court proceedings may bring further details about the couple’s disputed relationship.
Meanwhile, Kansas City’s interest remains a developing story rather than a completed signing, leaving Hill’s NFL future unresolved as he attempts to move forward both professionally and personally.
