Tyreek Hill unexpectedly changes his testimony in trial for assaulting his ex-wife: “I am ashamed”

The former Dolphins receiver changed a key part of his testimony during a tense second day on the witness stand

A day after acknowledging that he pushed his former wife during an argument, Tyreek Hill offered a different account of the incident as attorneys challenged his credibility in a civil battery trial.

The former Miami Dolphins wide receiver insisted Friday that he had not physically assaulted Lakeeta Vaccaro , despite previously testifying that he pushed her against a wall inside their Sunny Isles condominium.

His revised testimony became a central issue during a tense second day on the witness stand, although Hill also acknowledged using abusive language toward Vaccaro throughout their troubled relationship.

"The language, I'm gonna take that all on this end, I'm not proud of that," Hill testified. "I am ashamed. I don't even go back home because my marriage failed."

Hill offers different explanation for damaged wall

The contradiction emerged after Hill was questioned about an argument during which a hole was created in a wall at the couple's condominium.

"I told her don't you ever touch me again in your life. I pushed her against the wall. And I tried to force her to get off me," Hill testified Thursday.

"I created a hole in the wall, trying to force her to get off me that night."

However, Hill changed that explanation Friday, saying the damage was caused by a door while he attempted to move away from Vaccaro .

"The door, the main door," Hill told his attorney. "I was trying to evade [Vaccaro], but I'm not trying to harm her or push her against the wall or, like, do anything crazy."

Hill also denied Vaccaro 's allegations that he physically injured her breasts, maintaining that he hadn't committed the assaults alleged in the civil proceedings.

Former NFL star acknowledges verbal abuse

Vaccaro 's attorneys used cross-examination to examine inconsistencies between Hill 's testimony and statements he previously made during a deposition.

Their questions addressed disputed financial accusations, comments about a fire at the couple's home and Hill 's suggestion that problems in his marriage affected his football performance.

Hill acknowledged that his assessment of the relationship's impact on his performance was an opinion rather than an established fact.

"I'm not sitting here blaming wifey for that, bro," Hill said. "I'm not."

Attorneys also presented footage from a nanny camera while questioning Hill about the emotional impact of his behavior toward Vaccaro . Asked whether he had hurt her emotionally, Hill answered, "In that moment, yes."

Hill regrets treatment of Vaccaro

Despite continuing to deny physical abuse, Hill accepted responsibility for the language he used during the marriage.

"The language was terrible. Was terrible. I wish I could have been better in every single moment, but I'm not perfect," he testified.

"The only thing I can do is learn from it and move forward and never talk to my co-parent like that again."

The distinction remains central to the case. Hill has admitted verbal abuse but disputes the allegations of physical violence, leaving the court to assess the conflicting testimony and evidence.
