Swift is already in Kansas City, but fans may have to wait until kickoff to know whether she attends
Taylor Swift has made a habit of keeping fans guessing before Kansas City Chiefs games, and that has not changed ahead of Sunday night’s matchup with the Indianapolis Colts .
There's been no public confirmation that Swift will attend the September 20 game at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs are looking to build on their opening-week win.
She rarely announces her NFL plans beforehand, so her status typically remains uncertain until she is seen arriving at the stadium. Still, there are several reasons an appearance would make sense.
Swift was already in Kansas City this weekend, where she joined Travis Kelce at Patrick Mahomes ’ birthday celebration. She also attended the Chiefs ’ season opener against the Denver Broncos , watching from a suite as Kansas City began the year with a 31-10 victory.
Arrowhead the safest bet for Swift sightings
Swift has generally been much more likely to attend Chiefs home games than road contests in recent seasons. That pattern matters ahead of Week 2.
Arrowhead is a familiar setting, and Swift has repeatedly been seen there since her relationship with Kelce became public. A source previously explained to Page Six that security and familiarity can influence where she chooses to attend.
“She’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance,” the source said.
That helps explain why home games have remained the more reliable setting for Swift appearances.
Sunday’s matchup also comes at a convenient time. Swift was already in the city this weekend, removing the travel question that often surrounds her attendance.
Next week could be much harder
The timing of Kansas City’s upcoming schedule also makes Sunday’s game stand out. The Chiefs travel to Miami in Week 3 on September 27, the same day the MTV Video Music Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Swift has 11 nominations this year and is tied with Beyonce with 30 career VMA wins, leaving her one victory away from becoming the most-awarded artist in the event’s history.
That creates an obvious scheduling conflict if she plans to attend the awards. Even with private travel, watching an afternoon game in Miami and then getting to Los Angeles in time for the red carpet would be difficult.
That doesn't mean Swift will definitely be at Arrowhead on Sunday. She has never made attendance at every Chiefs game a certainty, and there's no official word from her camp.
The circumstances, however, are favorable. She's in Kansas City, she attended the opener, and Sunday’s game is at a stadium she knows well. Fans may not get their answer until the cameras start scanning the suites.
