“Looking for 25 year olds”: Tom Brady ripped for using GQ makeover to hide deep insecurities

Jason Whitlock has taken aim at Tom Brady over the former NFL quarterback’s latest GQ appearance.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion recently appeared in a fashion-focused campaign, showing a different side of himself years after leaving the New England Patriots .

Whitlock wasn’t impressed and used the shoot as the basis for a wider criticism of Brady’s public image and personality.

"Tom Brady continues his transformation into becoming a woke leftist," Whitlock captioned, not really understanding what 'woke' means, like most people who use it.

Whitlock questions Brady's motivation

Whitlock argued that Brady’s fashion makeover was about more than simply appearing in a magazine campaign.

"He's trying to tell 25-year-old women, 'hey, I'm still relatable.' I think Tom Brady has insecurity issues," Whitlock said. "We thought he was this humble kid from Michigan. No, this is a guy from Northern California who perhaps is being who he was always going to be, and that Bill Belichick pushed that out of him while he was with the Patriots

The comments represented a sharp attack on the image Brady cultivated during his long career in New England, where he became closely associated with Bill Belichick and the Patriots ’ disciplined culture.

Whitlock suggested that Brady’s personality has changed significantly since leaving the franchise, although his interpretation was presented as opinion rather than evidence of Brady’s own motivations.

Brady's post NFL image comes under fire

Brady has remained highly visible since retiring from football, moving into broadcasting while also appearing regularly in advertising and fashion campaigns.

That visibility has brought plenty of scrutiny, particularly as the 49-year-old has embraced a more fashion-conscious image than fans were accustomed to during his playing career.

Whitlock believes that shift reflects a bigger change.

"As soon as he left Bill Belichick, Tom Brady feels a bit more comfortable being exactly who he is: a Northern Californian leftist."

Brady hasn’t publicly responded to Whitlock’s criticism.

The former quarterback has faced plenty of commentary about his appearance and lifestyle since retirement, but his GQ campaign appears to have triggered a particularly personal response from Whitlock .
