Tom Brady's book details ‘global storm’ that was Bridget Moynahan's pregnancy while he was already dating Gisele Bundchen

T om Brady ’s relationship with Gisele Bundchen was still new when it was thrown into one of the most intensely scrutinized moments of his personal life.

According to Lars Anderson ’s biography, Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness , Brady learned in February 2007 that his former girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan , was pregnant with his child.

The revelation came only about two months after Brady and Bundchen had started seeing each other.

The timing immediately created a public narrative that Brady had left a pregnant girlfriend for one of the world’s most famous models.

Anderson argues that version of events does not match the timeline and describes it as a misconception that followed Brady for years.

The book suggests Brady and Moynahan had already separated before his first date with Bundchen in December 2006, with the pregnancy becoming known weeks later.

Bundchen faced an immediate decision

Anderson writes that Brady was vacationing with Bundchen in France when Moynahan called with what the author described as “a lightning strike of news.”

The impact on Bundchen was immediate. According to the biography, she was already emotionally invested in Brady but suddenly found herself questioning whether she should remain in the relationship.

“She didn’t know what to do,” Anderson wrote, adding that Bundchen asked herself: “Do I just run away? Do I really want this?”

The book says she even considered encouraging Brady to reunite with Moynahan and raise the child together. Ultimately, Bundchen stayed.

According to Anderson , Brady persuaded her that their relationship was worth continuing, while Bundchen decided she could still become part of the child’s life without trying to replace Moynahan .

Moynahan gave birth to John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan in August 2007. Brady and Bundchen later married in 2009 and had two children together, Benjamin and Vivian.

Difficult beginning became co-parenting relationship

The early circumstances were complicated, but the three adults eventually built a co-parenting arrangement focused on Jack .

Bundchen later acknowledged that the relationship with Moynahan required patience and effort.

“Everything in life comes with work,” she told Vanity Fair in 2023. “You have to go through the roller coaster. You have moments where you get to the sticky points and you gotta overcome it.”

She also explained that her priority became supporting Jack and finding a way to work together.

“My goal was always, how can I be the most helpful?” Bundchen said. “How can I make it the easiest I possibly can?”

Brady and Bundchen ’s marriage ended in 2022 after 13 years, but the story of how their relationship began has remained part of the wider mythology around his life away from football.

Anderson ’s account doesn't suggest the pregnancy revelation was anything less than deeply difficult.

What it does challenge is the idea that Brady knowingly left a pregnant Moynahan to begin dating Bundchen .

The reality, according to the book, was messier, more private and far more complicated than the headline that came to define it.
