It's a truly new and fresh era for the Las Vegas Raiders . Heading into the 2026 season, the team has a new head coach in Klint Kubiak , several new faces on the roster, and their franchise quarterback of the future in Fernando Mendoza .

While general manager John Spytek did most of the dirty work, Tom Brady has surely helped plenty behind the scenes. The minority owner has been a constant presence, whenever he's not on Fox Sports duty, and is hoping to leave his mark on the organization. Brady is also hoping Mendoza leaves his own mark over the course of his NFL career .

Brady surely signed off on the Mendoza pick, as the Raiders front office likely wanted input from the GOAT quarterback when it came to selecting the franchise's new QB of the future. It's clear that Brady has high hopes for Mendoza, especially after Brady pulled off a stunning move for a piece of Mendoza memorabilia .

Tom Brady paid "life-altering amount of money" for Fernando Mendoza rookie card

Last month, Brady splashed the cash for a rare 1-of-1 Mendoza rookie card, which featured the rookie's signature and the caption "My 1st NFL Auto" on the card. As it turns out, Brady paid a pretty penny for it. One of Brady's business partners, Chris Costa , revealed recently that the former QB paid a " life-altering amount of money for most people " in order to get the card.

Costa says that Brady was dying to get his hands on the card, since it was as rare as a card can get - only one exists in the world: " Tom basically raised his hand and was like, ‘I want that card. I need that card.' ” Brady got it, but his wallet took a hit in the process. Thankfully, as long as Mendoza's NFL career pans out as expected, that card could be worth a fortune in the future.
