The 2026 NFL season couldn't have started off worse for the Los Angeles Rams . After a full offseason of hype with the Rams ending up as overwhelming Super Bowl favorites, the Rams faceplanted in Week 1 - against their NFC West rivals, no less.

The Rams got exposed by the San Franciscio 49ers in a 27-7 loss, apparently feeling the effects of traveling to Australia . Following the game, their blockbuster acquisition, Myles Garrett , was placed on Injured Reserve after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery that will sideline him for at least four games.

Already behind all three of their division foes in the standings, Week 2 is starting to look like a crucial game , especially since their next three contests after that are against the Denver Broncos , Philadelphia Eagles , and Buffalo Bills . Things just got a bit harder for their Week 2 game against the New York Giants , too.

Puka Nacua added to injury report late in week with hip injury, putting Week 2 status in doubt

Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua was a late add to the team's injury report on Friday. Nacua appears to be dealing with a new hip injury . He may have suffered it during Thursday's practice, as he wasn't listed on the injury report until the end of the week .

Late additions to the injury report are never a good sign. That's especially true for a player like Nacua, who has struggled with nagging injuries throughout his NFL career.

The wide receiver usually battles through injuries , but there's some concern about this one due to how late in the week it happened. Already down Garrett and coming off of a seven-point performance by the offense, Nacua missing the Giants game could be brutal for the Rams .
