Rams QB Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly makes honest ‘overstimulated mom’ confession
Wife of NFL MVP hopes her daughters remember a great childhood despite the chaos

Kelly Stafford has spent enough years around the NFL to know what happens when the regular season begins.
The calendar tightens, Matthew Stafford ’s responsibilities with the Los Angeles Rams take over, and much of the day-to-day chaos of raising four daughters inevitably falls on her.
That reality was at the heart of a recent Instagram post in which Kelly shared a montage of family moments and summed up motherhood in unmistakably candid fashion.
“I hope one day when my kids are older, they look back and say ‘even though my mom was a overstimulated, raging psycho, she still gave us the best childhood.’ *and dad,” she wrote.
The joke was self-deprecating, but the sentiment behind it was clear. Kelly hopes daughters Chandler, Sawyer, Hunter and Tyler Hall remember the experiences their parents created for them rather than the stress that sometimes came with making those moments happen.
Never hidden the chaos behind family life
The Stafford family’s schedule has regularly required careful planning around Matthew ’s football commitments and the children’s own activities.
Kelly has previously spoken about one particularly stressful trip to Philadelphia when all four daughters had soccer games on the same day the family needed to catch a flight.
She has also discussed the more difficult sides of motherhood, including pregnancy and postpartum recovery, while generally keeping her public comments grounded in the reality that raising four children can be exhausting regardless of the circumstances.
Her latest post arrived as another demanding stretch begins. Matthew and Kelly recently spent time together in Lake Tahoe before the Rams turned their attention fully toward Week 1.
Kelly later shared images suggesting she had traveled to Melbourne ahead of Los Angeles’ season opener. The Rams are scheduled to face the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, giving the Stafford family an unusually long-distance start to the new campaign.
Matthew Stafford enters 2026 with history within reach
The family story is unfolding alongside another significant season for Matthew Stafford .
The veteran quarterback is coming off an outstanding 2025 campaign in which he was named NFL MVP and remains the central figure in Los Angeles’ offense.
Stafford enters the season with 423 career touchdown passes, leaving him within striking distance of another move up the NFL’s all-time rankings.
He threw 282 touchdowns during 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions before adding another 141 since joining the Rams.
Three touchdown passes against San Francisco would take Stafford to 426 for his career and give him another milestone during a career that has already included a Super Bowl title and an MVP award.
Kelly ’s post, though, offered a reminder that the football achievements are only one part of the Stafford family’s story.
Another NFL season means more travel, more games and more complicated family logistics.
