Odell Beckham Jr. finds a new home with one of the NFL’s last undefeated teams

Beckham had no catches and was only on the field for 19 snaps across three games before the Giants cut him

So far this season, the most surprising team has not been the 0-4 Houston Texans or Los Angeles Chargers , nor even the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers , but rather the Minnesota Vikings .

Sitting at a pristine 4-0 record , Minnesota has managed to win games despite stretches where their offense struggled to find the end zone, heavily relying on kicker Will Reichard and a ferocious, top-tier defense to carry them. However, if the Vikings want to make a deep playoff push , their offensive unit desperately needs an upgrade.

To address that need, the front office moved swiftly to incorporate veteran free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. onto their practice squad, and head coach Kevin O'Connell has not ruled out the possibility of elevating him to the active roster in time for Sunday's matchup against the New Orleans Saints .

The 33-year-old wideout was cut loose by the New York Giants after recording zero catches and playing just 19 offensive snaps across three games.

Odell Beckham Jr. Reunites with Kevin O'Connell in the Vikings

Beckham’s arrival in Minnesota sparks a reunion with Kevin O'Connell , who served as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams back in 2021 , the memorable midseason year when Beckham was traded from Cleveland to LA and ultimately hauled in a touchdown in the Super Bowl before suffering a knee injury that wiped out his entire 2022 campaign.

Now, with the Vikings' top two wideouts, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison , dealing with injuries, and third-string option Jauan Jennings hauling in just two catches on four targets during his debut season with the franchise, Beckham provides immediate veteran depth.

He slots in alongside young second-year receivers Tai Felton and Myles Price, who have been alternating in the No. 4 and No. 5 roles.

O'Connell noted that the beauty of their playbook lies in foundational concepts and quick-learning mechanisms that allow new arrivals to pick up assignments rapidly if they are called up on game day.

Given that Beckham has not started more than 10 games in a single season since 2021 , this chapter in Minnesota could serve as a defining late-career stop as he attempts to inject life into the Vikings' offense through the remainder of the year.
