Fake Offers? Mike Florio reveals the hard truth behind Dianna Russini's lack of work in the NFL
Russini has effectively been blacklisted since her alleged affair with Mike Vrabel emerged

Dianna Russini 's potential return to sports reporting could prove more difficult than simply finding a new employer, with Mike Florio questioning whether the former NFL insider can rebuild the reputation she lost.
Russini resigned from The Athletic on April 14 following the controversy involving Mike Vrabel as photos showed her with the New England Patriots head coach at an Arizona resort prompted an internal investigation.
The outlet concluded that her failure to disclose the alleged relationship violated its newsroom standards, although its review found that the vast majority of her work was unrelated to Vrabel and did not establish that her reporting had been compromised.
The investigation also identified four articles that received editorial notes and criticized how Russini initially handled disclosure with her managers, and she has maintained that she stands behind her reporting.
Florio believes the controversy has left her facing significant obstacles as she considers her next career move as he outlined several possible scenarios surrounding Russini 's employment prospects, including the possibility that she already has an offer, is negotiating better terms or still needs assistance finding a suitable position.
“The damage to her credibility,” Florio said on ProFootballTalk. “Both from her reaction to the Vrabel scandal and the bizarre story about calling a coach on FaceTime to get out of a ticket for texting while driving, which apparently was not true will make it very difficult to return to reporting.”
Is Russini preparing for return to the NFL?
Florio suggested that launching a podcast could provide Russini with a route back into the public eye. Her first episode could attract substantial attention if she directly addressed the controversy, giving audiences a reason to tune in.
However, Florio questioned whether that initial curiosity would translate into a lasting audience once she had explained her side of the story – and generating interest in a comeback would not necessarily mean she had restored the trust she needs.
Russini appears to be taking steps toward rebuilding her public image, reportedly hiring veteran crisis publicist Melissa Nathan , who has worked with Johnny Depp , Logan Paul and Justin Baldoni .
Russini continues to consider her future in sports media and the hiring of Nathan , who has worked on high-profile public relations campaigns, marks a notable development in her efforts to navigate the fallout of the scandal.
Page Six reported the development on October 8, citing a source familiar with the arrangement but the reported hire does not confirm that she has secured a new position or established a timetable for returning to sports coverage.
