The NFL trade market is really heating up, as several high-profile moves have already been made and rumors continue to run rampant. Ironically, two AFC South teams have made the biggest waves so far, by being sellers ahead of the trade deadline.

First, the Indianpolis Colts unloaded Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner . Then, the Tennessee Titans traded away Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears for a big haul that included two first round picks. It's a big gamble by the Bears, but they clearly feel they're just one elite player away from a legitimate Super Bowl run.

Craig Carton says Giants blew their Super Bowl chance by not trading for Jeffery Simmons, one week after saying their season was over

Apparently, so are the New York Giants ? At least that's what local radio host Craig Carton believes, since he went on the air to blast the Giants for not giving up the same type of haul to get Simmons from the Titans.

New York Giants lost out on a golden opportunity this morning, as the Tennessee Titans have gotten rid of their best defensive player Simmons. He goes to Chicago for not one, but two first round draft picks. I guess you don't want to win a Super Bowl. I guess just winning a couple of regular season games is enough for this franchise... Seems to me like, if I'm the New York Giants and I have a chance to win the Super Bowl, I do whatever I gotta do.

Carton is the same person who just last week said head coach John Harbaugh ended the Giants' 2026 season by starting J.J. McCarthy over Jameis Winston . McCarthy proceeded to play a stellar game against the Houston Texans in Week 7 in a win for the Giants.

Even if McCarthy continues his resurgence for the rest of the season, the Giants are still very much in the later stages of a rebuild. They also have plenty of talent in their front seven, so it wasn't exactly a priority to get a defensive tackle - especially if it meant mortgaging their next two first round picks, since they've drafted so well recently.
