Former Cowboys QB Joe Milton stuns Eagles teammate with incredible arm strength

Former Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton is turning heads in Philadelphia, and Eagles star Jordan Mailata had a jaw-dropping reaction to his incredible arm strength.

The Philadelphia Eagles surprised many by announcing a quarterback change ahead of Week 9 . Just days after Nick Sirianni publicly backed Tanner McKee , the team made an unexpected shift by naming Joe Milton the starter for the divisional matchup against the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field .

The decision makes clear that Philadelphia was not willing to settle for merely acceptable performances. After McKee’s modest outings — averaging 213 yards, 0.66 touchdown passes, and 0.66 interceptions per game — the Eagles chose to bet on Milton’s immense physical upside, as he is widely regarded as one of the most athletically gifted quarterbacks in the NFL .

During Wednesday’s practice, offensive tackle Jordan Mailata did not hold back in praising his new quarterback’s talent, particularly the strength of his arm.

“It is a f**king cannon. Oh my god, pardon my language,” Mailata said. “He, you see it on TV, you hear about it when he was going through the draft, but then when you see it, it’s a work of art, man. For real. And, it’s like, other than that, like, being the biggest, not really a surprise, but wow, like, it is the real deal.”

Still, Mailata made it clear that Milton brings more than just the ability to throw deep passes. The offensive lineman highlighted his personality in the locker room and the positive impact he has had on a team navigating a difficult season.

“He’s really a team guy, like very open, talks to everyone,” Mailata noted. “It’s a welcome sight because, you know, with everything going on, he brings a good light to it.”

Now the big question is whether Milton can become the spark the Eagles need. Matching the impact that Nick Foles or Jalen Hurts had when they took over the starting job from Carson Wentz is a tall order, but in Philadelphia they believe it is worth trying something different rather than continuing to rely on McKee’s inconsistent performances. After all, a similar decision paid off for the New England Patriots in the final week of the 2024 season .
