Jason Kelce had a small live TV slip-up and Pat McAfee didn't let it slide

A single phrase during ESPN's broadcast was enough for Pat McAfee to interrupt Jason Kelce's analysis and put the moment under the spotlight.

On Monday, September 28, Monday Night Football took over Soldier Field in Chicago for the matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears . Scott Van Pelt, Pat McAfee and Jason Kelce were following the game from the set and, up to that point, the broadcast had been moving along normally. Then came halftime analysis.

The comment that changed the tone of the analysis

Philadelphia went into halftime trailing 10-7, so Kelce took the floor to break down what had happened in the first half . He talked about the opportunities the offense had created, how the ball was moving and Jalen Hurts' performance.

But in the middle of his analysis, something caught attention. When referring to the Eagles, Kelce started using "we" instead of talking about the team from an outside perspective .

Pat McAfee didn't let the "we" slide

The slip became even more obvious when Kelce said: "We played really well offensively." That was enough for Pat McAfee to jump in with a joke from the same set: "A lot of we talk out of Jason for Philly."

Kelce burst out laughing when he realized what he had said and quickly corrected himself on camera: "Sorry Bears fans! Did I say we?"

The moment lasted only a few seconds, but there was a pretty clear reason the word came out so naturally.

13 seasons with the Eagles

Kelce spent all 13 seasons of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles after the franchise selected him in 2011 . During that time, he became one of the team's most recognizable figures and was part of the roster that won Super Bowl LII in 2018 against the New England Patriots.

At the end of the 2023 season, he announced the end of his playing career. He soon began his next chapter as an ESPN analyst and is now in his third season in front of the cameras .

Did Jason Kelce receive any punishment?

There was no fine or suspension over the comment. The "we" was simply a slip during the broadcast and, more than anything, a reminder of how difficult it can be to break a habit built over 13 years .
