Steelers have their own version of Daejon Love: Pittsburgh rookie impersonated by scammer
The San Francisco 49ers-Daejon Love scam has opened up a can of worms apparently.

One of the craziest storylines of the 2026 NFL season actually had nothing to do with a real NFL player. The San Francisco 49ers franchise was flung into the limelight, very unwantedly, when news surfaced of a scammer pretending to be one of their players.
Daejon Love was the culprit, using 49ers gear and a fake social media account to dupe women into sending him money for fraudulent investments. Alongside posing as a real estate developer, Love ended up swindling victims out of a total of $1.3 million . He has since been arrested.
Eli Heidenreich impersonator scams two local women out of $1,000
As it turns out, other scammers have been galvanized by Love's actions . A report recently surfaced that a different scammer posed as Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Eli Heidenreich and was able to muster $1,000 from two women , according to the Pennsylvania State Police .
Unfortunately, no suspects have been identified as of yet . It's unclear if there were more victims. This is a different type of scam since the culprit is actually posing as a real NFL player. Love simply created a false persona.
This is quite the welcome to the city of Pittsburgh for the rookie. Heidenreich was selected in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Steelers in April. He went to school at Navy , so he surely won't find the situation funny in any way.
