Daejon Love was still dressed like a 49ers player when his fake NFL life ended in handcuffs

Daejon Love allegedly spent years convincing women that he was living the life of an NFL star. When federal agents finally caught up with him, he still appeared to be dressed for the role.

Video obtained by TMZ shows Love outside Boise Airport on August 24, stepping out of a white Corvette as law enforcement officers move in and place him under arrest.

Love appears to be wearing a San Francisco 49ers shirt and matching headband. The clothes did not make him an NFL player, but they represented the character federal prosecutors say he used to gain the trust of women and convince them to hand over enormous amounts of money.

His alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan , can also be seen being arrested in the footage.

Daejon Love’s alleged $1.3 million deception

Federal prosecutors say Chan flew from California to Boise to meet Love shortly before both were arrested. Investigators believe Love was in Idaho searching for new potential victims when authorities intervened.

Love, 35, and Chan have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. They are accused of taking approximately $1.3 million from at least 26 women across California, Oregon , Washington and Idaho. The FBI believes there could be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

According to the criminal complaint, Love met many of the women through dating apps and persuaded them that he was either a San Francisco 49ers player or a successful real estate investor from a wealthy family.

The fantasy extended far beyond wearing a football jersey. Love allegedly shared images of expensive vehicles, jewelry and luxury homes while discussing NFL games and claiming to know prominent professional players.

In another video obtained by TMZ , Love reportedly sold one woman the dream of becoming “an NFL wife.” He spoke about G-Wagons, multiple homes and expensive jewelry while presenting himself as a wealthy athlete capable of giving her an extraordinary future.

Prosecutors say Love used those supposed romantic relationships to introduce women to Chan, whom he presented as the financial adviser responsible for growing his fortune to tens of millions of dollars.

The two allegedly promoted investment opportunities that did not exist. Women were encouraged to send money and, in some cases, take out personal loans after being promised enormous returns and quick repayments.

Investigators say the victims were shown apparently impressive account balances through financial apps. However, prosecutors allege that some of those figures came from demonstration accounts containing fictitious money rather than real investments.

Once a woman ran out of money or began asking too many questions, Love allegedly cut off communication. Authorities said none of the 26 identified victims reported receiving the promised returns or having their loans repaid.

The alleged operation began in February 2022 and continued for more than four years. Love reportedly used several names, including Avril Lyto Love, Jordan Love and Jon Love, as he constructed different versions of the same wealthy persona.

The San Francisco 49ers have no connection to Love , and he has never appeared on the team’s official roster. The clothing seen in his photos and arrest video was 49ers merchandise, not proof that it had been issued by the organization.
