Justin Bieber and Harry Styles the frontrunners for 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show... but there's a major drawback

Roc Nation reportedly has two global superstars in mind for SoFi Stadium

The Super Bowl halftime show has become as much a global entertainment event as a football spectacle, and the NFL may be aiming particularly high for 2027.

Justin Bieber and Harry Styles are reportedly among the leading names on Roc Nation’s wish list for Super Bowl LXI, which will be played Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

TMZ reports that both artists are high on the list being considered by Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z that works with the NFL on its live music strategy.

There is, however, an important distinction between being wanted and being booked.

Neither Bieber nor Styles has reportedly been formally approached about performing, and TMZ suggested both could ultimately decline even if offers are made.

That leaves the NFL with an intriguing early shortlist but no confirmed headliner.

Bieber already has experience

Bieber would arrive with relatively recent experience performing around one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The Canadian singer appeared during halftime entertainment at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, part of a first-of-its-kind show that generated debate because soccer traditionally has a far shorter halftime break than the NFL.

Reaction to Bieber ’s appearance was mixed, including discussion over his song selection, but the setting provided another reminder of the scale of audience he can command. A Super Bowl performance would be very different.

Halftime entertainment is deeply embedded in the NFL’s championship event, and artists frequently use the platform as a way to reach hundreds of millions of viewers while giving their catalog a major commercial boost.

The NFL doesn't traditionally pay its halftime performer a standard appearance fee, although production expenses are covered. The value instead comes from exposure, with streaming numbers, ticket demand and music sales often surging around the performance.

SoFi Stadium adds more expectation

The location only increases the pressure on whoever eventually gets the call. The last Super Bowl held at SoFi Stadium featured a blockbuster halftime lineup of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent .

That show became one of the most memorable halftime productions of recent years and set a high bar for the event’s return to Los Angeles.

Styles would bring a different energy, combining his One Direction fan base with a hugely successful solo career. Bieber would offer similar global reach, with a catalog spanning more than a decade of mainstream pop.

The NFL usually announces its halftime performer around late September, meaning a decision could come relatively soon. Until then, Bieber and Styles remain high-profile possibilities rather than actual bookings.

The NFL may know who it wants, but the harder part could be convincing either one to take the stage.
