Titans fans enraged by player’s ‘tone-deaf’ outfit after home loss, demand team cut him
Julius Chestnut’s pregame costume sparks backlash from angry Titans fans

Julius Chestnut has made himself one of the Tennessee Titans ’ most noticeable players before kickoff this season, though not necessarily for reasons frustrated fans are enjoying.
Chestnut arrived at Nissan Stadium dressed as Green Goblin ahead of Tennessee’s Week 2 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles , continuing a theme that began when he wore a Black Panther costume in Week 1. The second entrance drew a much harsher reaction.
Tennessee had already opened the season with a disappointing loss to the New York Jets , and some supporters saw Chestnut ’s latest outfit as a sign that the backup running back was badly misreading the mood around the franchise.
“Maybe start winning some games before doing this nonsense,” one fan wrote. Another went further: “Cut his ass. I don't need my benchwarmers being this comfortable.”
Chestnut’s costumes now a talking point
The 25-year-old is competing for a role largely behind established running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears , with much of his value expected to come on special teams. That only intensified criticism after video of his Green Goblin arrival circulated online.
“I imagine he's also terrible at reading the vibe in the room,” one supporter wrote. “Tone deaf.” Another described it as “corny behavior from a team that hasn't been good in a while,” while one account said: “I want this dude off my team yesterday. What a clown.”
NFL players regularly use game-day entrances to show personality, and elaborate outfits are nothing new around the league. The issue for Titans fans was less about the costume itself than when it appeared.
Chestnut had dressed as Black Panther before Tennessee’s Week 1 loss, then doubled down with another character while the team was still searching for its first victory.
Robert Saleh already stressed moving on from Week 1
Titans coach Robert Saleh spent the build-up to Philadelphia emphasizing the need to reset quickly after the Jets defeat.
“You're always excited to get back on,” Saleh said earlier in the week. “You know, I think Wednesday is always a great day because it represents the turning of the page.”
He added: “You know, on Monday we went through and had a really good meeting with the group. Tuesday, you're game planning, and today's about turning the page, moving forward, and getting ready for the opponent.”
Some Tennessee supporters clearly wanted that same urgency reflected in everything surrounding the team. One fan wrote: “team is 0-1 & got embarrassed by the Jets. this should get you cut. clearly don't take your job seriously.”
Chestnut ’s outfits have quickly become part of his early-season identity, but the reaction also shows how little patience exists around a struggling team.
If Tennessee starts winning, the costumes may be viewed very differently. Until then, some fans appear much more interested in what Chestnut does after kickoff than what he wears beforehand.
