A ustin Roest , a professional NHL player, moved everyone with the message he shared on social media dedicated to his girlfriend, Milara Okaba . The former skater is hospitalized after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
“Milly, I don’t even know what to say. I’m so sorry that this is happening to you. No one deserves to go through this. That said, I have no doubt that you will beat cancer. You are the strongest person I know and I know you will overcome everything that comes your way over the next year,” he said.
"I love you so much and I will be by your side at all times,” wrote the emotional Nashville Predators player, who also shared photos of Milara in the hospital bed.
Roest used the message to ask his followers for financial help to help fund his girlfriend's treatment. "We have also launched a GoFundMe campaign to help Milly and her family during this difficult time. Link in bio," he commented.
What is an adenocarcinoma?
Okaba suffers from adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer that originates in glandular cells, that is, the cells that produce or secrete substances such as mucus, enzymes, or bodily fluids.
It can appear in different organs, such as the colon and rectum, lung, pancreas, prostate, stomach, esophagus, or breast. So far, the fundraising has reached 55 thousand dollars.
“I feel extremely fortunate in this life to have friends who are like family and a family that loves me so intensely,” Milara Okaba said on social media.
