Objectives and goals are something necessary throughout our lives. They are the things that make us focus on a task, on an exercise, on a motivation. On September 4, 1998, Larry Page became someone who had achieved his goal, although perhaps at that moment he still did not know it .

Google is a technology company and the most popular search engine in the world . Larry Page is a co-founder of the company, which began as a university project. Page, together with his friend Sergey Brin, started this idea at Stanford University . In fact, at first the search engine had another name, BackRub, but one day they decided to change it to the one we know today, Google. The name refers to the mathematical term “googol,” which is equivalent to 10 raised to the power of 100. With this, they wanted to reflect their goal of organizing all the information that existed on the internet.

His project did not succeed overnight; it required effort and resilience . To talk about those values, Page said the famous quote: “When you aim for the stars, you may not reach them, but you will still get to the moon” . With this phrase, the businessman wants to express that we should always aim as high as possible, whether in our jobs, in our relationships, or in life in general. We may not achieve the utmost, but trying is the way to get there, or at least, to stay close .

Perseverance, a key factor in achieving success

Google's trajectory is a good example of that idea. What began as an academic project between two students ended up becoming one of the most important technology companies in the world . Along the way, Page and Brin had to face difficulties, make risky decisions, and stay committed to an idea whose potential was not always obvious. Perseverance was , therefore, a fundamental part of a success that today seems almost inevitable in hindsight.

Page's quote also highlights the importance of not giving up when results do not come immediately. Setting ambitious goals can serve as a guide for moving forward, even when the final outcome does not match initial expectations . In that sense, failure does not have to mean the end of the road, but can instead become an opportunity to learn, correct mistakes, and keep moving toward new goals. For the founder of Google, aiming high does not guarantee reaching the stars, but it can take us much farther than we would have imagined.
