Mark Zuckerberg reveals Muse Charm, a Tamagotchi-sized AI device with a surprising purpose

Meta’s new pocket-sized gadget lets users talk to Muse without opening an app or wearing smart glasses, but its price remains a mystery

Mark Zuckerberg spent much of Meta Connect 2026 showing how the company’s AI assistant, Muse, could work across phones, computers and glasses. Then he pulled another way to use it from his pocket: a tiny device called the Muse Charm.

Its small, playful appearance immediately invites a Tamagotchi comparison. But the Charm is an AI assistant, not a virtual pet. Meta says it is built for spoken conversations with Muse and fits in a pocket. Zuckerberg described it as small enough for a keychain.

What does the Muse Charm actually do?

In the presentation, Zuckerberg pointed to a fingerprint sensor in the corner of the device. Touch it, he said, and you can start talking to Muse without unlocking your phone or opening an app. He pitched the Charm as an especially quick option for people who do not wear Meta’s AI glasses.

That gives the little gadget a clear job. Muse is Meta’s personal AI agent, available through an app and other services; the Charm puts a direct way to speak with it in your hand. Meta also introduced real-time voice conversations and expressive avatars for Muse at Connect, although it has yet to explain in detail how every feature will appear on the Charm itself.

Zuckerberg said Meta aims to have the device ready to ship before the holiday season. The company’s written announcement is more cautious: it promises further details later this year. Meta has not announced a price, an exact release date or full specifications for the Charm.

The surprise is the form it takes. After pushing AI into glasses and apps, Meta is offering a separate object you can reach for when you want to ask Muse something. It looks like a toy from another era, but Zuckerberg wants it to make talking to an AI agent feel as easy as touching a keychain.
