Controversial EA FC 27 Player Ratings that have fans disagreeing
EA Sports’ annual soccer video game always gets the people talking, one way or another.
For soccer fans who also play video games, September marks a key month in the calendar. On September 25, EA Sports FC 27 is set to release worldwide. Despite a lot of backlash over the game in recent years, fans still come out in droves to purchase it.
As the anticipation builds, just about everything fans are interested in about the game has been revealed. The release date, Kylian Mbappe as the cover athlete, and all of the game’s new features have been known for a little while. And now, EA launched a database where fans can browse all of the player ratings , with overall and specific stats.
Naturally, some debate has arisen from the player rating rankings. Franklin Bellone Borges of Operation Sports has identified three rating “mistakes” that caught his attention, and the attention of many fans as well.
Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Cristiano Ronaldo among the most contested player ratings in EA FC 27
First is Harry Kane , whose 90 overall rating seems fine at first glance. But in the eyes of many, he should be on par with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland - both of whom are the top rated players at 91 overall . It’s not an egregious mistake, but Kane is coming off of a truly historic goalscoring season and is the overwhelming favorite to win the Ballon d’Or award.
Up next is Luis Diaz , whose 88 overall rating is actually quite strong. His pace is what’s causing some debate, though. Diaz’s pace has gone down from 88 last year to 82 this year . It’s a bit of a surprise given that he’s still under 30 years old and hasn’t really shown much of a dip in speed on the real football pitch.
Last on Borges’ list is the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo . In the eyes of Borges, Ronaldo being just as good this past season as he was the one before that should have kept him at the same rating: “ Okay, I’m not going to sit here and argue that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be a walkout in EA FC 27, as the Robozão continues to stare father time in the face. What I can do, however, is contest his new rating, which saw him join the 84 club with a -9 PAC downgrade. The thing is, Cristiano’s 2025/26 season was identical to his 2025 one, which saw him get an 85 OVR. ”
