EA Sports FC 27: This was the global unveiling event with Ibrahimovic, Henry and much more in New York
Several icons of world football came face to face in the first gameplay livestream of the new video game in the series
EA Sports FC 27 has already started revving up ahead of its worldwide launch. On September 15, the company held a special event in New York that brought together football legends, content creators, actors, musical artists and major sports figures.
A true celebration of The World’s Game that arrives just a few days before the start of early access, scheduled for September 18, and the worldwide launch of the video game, which will take place next September 25.
Among the attendees were well-known names such as Zlatan Ibrahimović, Thierry Henry, Luís Figo, Daniel Sturridge, Lewis Capaldi, KSI, Odell Beckham Jr., and several cast members from Ted Lasso.
But the event wasn't just a star-studded red carpet. It also served to showcase for the first time some of the new gameplay features of FC 27 in a livestream that included matchups between legends and content creators.
Zlatan, Henry and KSI star in one of the event's biggest showdowns
One of the most outstanding moments was the showdown between Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marlon against Thierry Henry and KSI. A duel that served to show new footage of FC 27 and that amassed more than 2.6 million views across the different streaming platforms, with a combined peak of 276,000 viewers.
There was also time for another very special match. Chad OchoCinco and Adebayo Akinfenwa faced Daniel Sturridge and Lewis Capaldi, blending football, entertainment, and gaming on the same playing field.
And watch out, because the creators were also able to try firsthand The Grounds, FC 27's new social space. This experience will allow them to customize teams, create their own identity and connect with other players beyond traditional matches.
Football legends against content creators
The event also hosted the LALIGA x FC 27 Matchday, which brought together Javier Mascherano and Luís Figo as captains of the LaLiga teams. Alongside them were Rivaldo and Marcelo, as well as international creators such as KSI, xBuyer, and Luva.
Before the main match, participants had to overcome three skill challenges. Then came the most anticipated moment: a showdown that brought together on the same field football legends and some of the most well-known figures in the gaming world.
Thus, FC 27 wanted to show that football is not limited to the 90 minutes of a match. It is also community, entertainment, and a culture that continues to grow around the video game.
