The new game launches worldwide in September, but premium editions unlock it well before then
NBA 2K27 officially arrives worldwide on September 4, but the real launch begins much sooner for players willing to buy one of the game’s premium editions.
2K has confirmed that early access opens on August 26 at 9:00 a.m. PT for anyone who purchases the Deluxe Edition or Ultra Edition. That creates a window of up to nine days before the Standard Edition becomes playable.
The August 26 date also marks the start of Season 1, meaning early-access players will immediately begin earning XP and progressing through the new rewards system rather than simply getting a head start on exhibition games.

How to play NBA 2K27 before September 4
The key requirement is the edition. Players who buy the Standard Edition will have to wait until the worldwide launch on September 4.
Those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultra Edition can begin on August 26, although the exact local unlock time may vary by region.
NBA 2K27 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam . There won't be a version for older-generation consoles.
The Ultra Edition is digital-only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while NBA 2K26 players on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam can receive a 10 percent loyalty discount when pre-ordering the Ultra Edition on the same platform through September 3.
The Deluxe and Ultra editions are not available in Belgium, Brazil or South Korea.
Season 1 gives early-access players plenty to chase
Players entering on August 26 will have immediate access to NBA 2K27 Season 1, which features a 40-level rewards ladder across The City and MyTEAM.
The City rewards include Skill Boosts, MyPLAYER cosmetics, Cap Breakers and new Badge Tokens.
MyTEAM progression includes cards ranging from Amethyst to Dark Matter, with Derrick Rose available as the Level 40 reward.
Season 1 also brings back 2XREP Weekends and limited-time events such as Midway and Blackout, while the soundtrack leans heavily into New York basketball culture with artists including Busta Rhymes and Mobb Deep .
Players who want even more rewards can purchase the Pro Pass or Hall of Fame Pass, each of which adds another 40 levels of premium content.
Those passes are separate purchases and require the base game, an internet connection and an NBA 2K account.
The simplest way to look at the launch is that September 4 is the official worldwide release, but August 26 is the date for anyone who wants to be there from the first tip.
