What time is NBA 2K27 being released? This is when the new game will be available
NBA 2K27 arrives worldwide on September 4 for most players, but PC and West Coast users get a different launch time
The wait for the full release of NBA 2K27 is almost over, and players looking to jump into the newest edition of the basketball franchise need to know that the game doesn't unlock at exactly the same time everywhere.
For players in the United States, NBA 2K27 officially launches at midnight Eastern Time on Friday, September 4. That means gamers on the West Coast can start playing at 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, September 3.
There's another wrinkle for PC players as the Steam version uses a different worldwide release schedule, meaning players in the United Kingdom, for example, have to wait until 5 a.m. BST on September 4 to access the full release.
For PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 players in the United Kingdom, NBA 2K27 becomes available at midnight BST on September 4. Steam users in Britain have a five-hour wait beyond that, with the PC version unlocking at 5 a.m. BST.
In the United States, console players on the East Coast can start at 12 a.m. EDT on September 4, while players on Pacific Time get access at 9 p.m. PDT on September 3. Steam follows the same regional timing for those U.S. zones.
NBA 2K27 release times and Early Access explained
The full launch is not the first opportunity players have had to get onto the virtual hardwood. 2K offered Advance Access to players who purchased the Deluxe or Ultra editions.
That window opened on August 26, giving eligible players up to nine days of early access before the standard worldwide launch.
In the United Kingdom, that access began at 5 p.m. BST on August 26, while players in New York received access at noon EDT that same day.
Players who purchased the Standard Edition don't receive that early window. They must wait for the full launch in their region.
The Steam store lists NBA 2K27's release date as September 3, which can initially look inconsistent with the September 4 date advertised for many markets.
The difference comes down to time zones as Steam players in California can begin at 9 p.m. PDT on September 3, while the same launch occurs at midnight September 4 on the U.S. East Coast.
The Steam listing also confirms that Visual Concepts developed the game and 2K serves as its publisher. The Standard Edition is listed at $69.99, while the Deluxe and Ultra editions cost $99.99 and $149.99 respectively on Steam.
For anyone planning to play immediately, preloading is also important. The official Steam community information states that Standard Edition players could begin preloading on September 2 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, allowing them to have the game installed before the release window opens.
NBA 2K27 also arrives with significant attention around its technology. Nvidia has announced that its DLSS 5 technology debuts with NBA 2K27, giving compatible PC hardware a new AI-assisted approach to visual rendering.
The technology is available on RTX 50-series hardware and GeForce NOW Ultimate.
Anyone with Advance Access should already have been playing since August 26. For everyone else, the final countdown is nearly finished.
Whether the plan is to build a MyPLAYER, take over the league in MyNBA, compete online in MyTEAM or simply see how the latest gameplay changes feel, NBA 2K27 officially opens the doors according to those regional launch windows.
The important thing is to check the clock for your specific platform and location, because September 3 and 4 are both technically correct release dates depending on where you are playing.
