The US Open enters its decisive stage, and the United States once again takes center stage with the presence of local athletes. Both in the women’s and men’s draws, they remain in contention and keep alive the hope of lifting a trophy in front of their home crowd.

The list combines experience and youth. In the men's draw, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, and Alex Michelsen are already through to the quarterfinals, while Learner Tien still has his round-of-16 match ahead of him. In the women's draw, Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro have already secured their place among the last eight, while Coco Gauff and Iva Jovic face off for a spot in the quarterfinals.

The recent history of tennis has been marked by great international protagonists, but the US Open has always been a tournament capable of delivering surprises. This time the possibility of being crowned does not rest on a single

"Local presence in the decisive rounds is no coincidence. In the men's draw, five Americans reached the fourth round, something that had not happened since 1995. Now, with Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelsen in the quarterfinals, expectations are growing and the New York crowd once again has reason to believe that the title can stay at home.

Frances Tiafoe advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. His next opponent will be Alex Michelsen, who reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time after defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry .

Ben Shelton , meanwhile, also advanced after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-3, and 6-4. His reward will be one of the tournament’s biggest challenges: he will face the defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz , in the quarterfinals.

In search of ending a historic drought in the men's draw.

The opportunity also carries historical weight for the men’s singles draw, as the last American to win a Grand Slam tournament was Andy Roddick, champion of the US Open in 2003. Since then, for exactly 23 years, no American tennis player has managed to win another major in the men’s category.

With three Americans already through to the men's quarterfinals and four women still in the running, the United States heads into the final stretch making it clear that New York still has several chapters left to write.
