The US Open has become one of the biggest sporting spectacles in the world, combining elite tennis with New York entertainment, celebrity appearances and a festival-like atmosphere.

However, fans hoping to watch the 2026 Grand Slam in person will face a major question before making plans which is how much will tickets actually cost?

The tournament begins on Tuesday, August 25, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center , with 128 men and 128 women competing for one of tennis’ most prestigious titles.

Defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka headline a star-studded field that includes Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Jessica Pegula .

Ticket prices vary significantly depending on the session, stadium and location, with some options remaining accessible while premium seats have reached record levels.

Cheapest US Open 2026 tickets and what fans can expect to pay

Fans looking for the lowest-cost way to attend the tournament can find tickets starting around $49 , including fees, for certain sessions on resale platforms.

Some general admission grounds passes and other events have been listed from around $23, although availability and prices can change as the tournament approaches.

Grounds passes provide access to the wider USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center , allowing fans to watch matches on outside courts and experience the atmosphere around the venue.

However, they don't guarantee entry into Arthur Ashe Stadium , where the biggest matches are played. The biggest price increases have been seen around high-demand sessions.

Some resale listings for opening-week grounds passes have climbed above $360 , despite face-value prices being much lower.

Arthur Ashe Stadium tickets are also commanding premium prices.

Upper-level seats have reached several hundred dollars, while lower sections closer to the court can cost more than $500 . Some premium hospitality and courtside options have reached thousands of dollars.

The increase comes as the US Open continues a major transformation of Arthur Ashe Stadium , with an $800 million renovation project designed to add upgraded seating and hospitality areas.

Why are US Open tickets becoming so expensive?

The rising cost of attending the US Open is linked to several factors, including increased demand for live sports, the popularity of tennis among younger audiences and the growth of the secondary ticket market.

The tournament has become more than just a tennis event, attracting celebrities, athletes and entertainment figures while creating a unique New York experience.

USTA chief commercial officer Kirsten Corio defended the organization’s approach, pointing to efforts such as Fan Week, which allows fans to attend qualifying matches, practices and other events at lower prices.

“You could see Djokovic on Arthur Ashe playing a practice match against another top-10 player for free in the first row,” Corio said. “That’s like no other sport that I can think of.”

The 2026 US Open will also feature special attractions outside the main tournament.

A legends exhibition featuring Roger Federer, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick will take place on August 25, while The Lumineers will perform during the tournament’s opening events.

Federer said returning to Arthur Ashe Stadium would be a meaningful experience.

“So many unforgettable moments of my career happened in New York, and Arthur Ashe Stadium is a place that means a great deal to me,” Federer said.

With some cheaper options still available but premium seats becoming increasingly expensive, fans will need to decide how much they are willing to spend to experience one of tennis’ biggest stages.
