Conor McGregor confirms that his next fight will be his last in the UFC
The Irish fighter posted a tweet boasting about the numbers he pulls every time he steps into the octagon, and revealed that he will not renew his contract with the company

Conor McGregor has made headlines again this weekend, as he has confirmed once and for all that his next fight in the UFC will be his last , since he has no more fights left on his contract and has no intention of renewing it. Through a tweet, "The Notorious" boasted about the numbers he draws in every fight he headlines, comparing himself to Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez and stating that once he recovers from his cruciate ligament injury, he will do a "The Last Dance".
Last July, McGregor returned to the octagon to face Max Holloway at welterweight after five years of inactivity. The hype was at its peak even though most people believed Conor was far from his prime, but everything blew up when on the very first kick he attempted, he planted his foot badly and seriously injured his ligaments. Far from being discouraged, the Irish fighter promised to come back stronger in 2027, something he has reiterated by making it clear that his intention is to say goodbye to the UFC with a fight very different from the previous one.
For my next fight—my last fight—I'm really going to put effort into the promotion. Let's see what numbers I can generate
"How many views did Canelo's fight get? How many attendees were there? How much did the box office take amount to? Wow! In terms of sales, I surpass all of them. By a lot. Every single one of them. Without breaking a sweat. Perhaps even all of them together. And that's without me even trying," McGregor wrote.
In fact, Conor went further and ended his message by acknowledging that "my fight coincided with the World Cup semifinal and, even so, I still managed those numbers in that last bout—absolute garbage, by the way—which I’ll have to carry for a few more months before returning. For my next fight—my last fight—I’m really going to put effort into the promotion . Let’s see what numbers I can generate. I’ll keep breaking my own records".
When will McGregor return?
It is still unknown when McGregor will fight again, but his intention is to return in the summer during June’s International Fight Week . As he himself has shown in several videos, his recovery is going very well, he has left his bad habits behind and he is taking very seriously what will be his last major appearance in the company led by Dana White.
Conor was the target of criticism after his latest performance. People said the injury was due to the wild life he had been living in recent years, that he had even gone into the fight injured just to collect the paycheck, that he should retire... All of this has mattered little or not at all to the Irishman, who has shut himself away in his bunker in Ireland and only wants to silence all this criticism with one last great performance.
That said, his opponent remains a mystery. A trilogy with Max Holloway, a trilogy with Nate Diaz, any other welterweight opponent ... Lots of doubts and few names to pair as a dance partner for "The Notorious," who obviously wants to face a high-profile name to put the finishing touch and break every possible sales record after a career that has established him as the man who changed the sport and the most high-profile fighter in MMA history.
