Dwayne Johnson slips up by revealing his return to WWE amid film-related conflicts
The Rock hints at another WrestleMania appearance despite a packed Hollywood schedule

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may have accidentally revealed that another WrestleMania appearance is somewhere in his future.
While the Hollywood superstar didn’t provide a date or indicate whether he plans to wrestle, his recent comments strongly suggest that WWE fans haven’t seen the last of him at its biggest annual event.
Johnson made a surprise appearance on The Morning Shift while the hosts were discussing “Your Dad,” a song associated with his upcoming Moana project.
The conversation eventually moved toward his legendary WWE career when one of the hosts admitted that seeing The Rock make his famous WrestleMania entrance in person remained on his bucket list.
The response from Johnson was enough to get wrestling fans talking.
Johnson made a promise that he’d be invited whenever The Rock eventually returns to WrestleMania. His choice of words was particularly interesting because he didn't say “if” he goes back. Instead, he spoke about it as something that would happen at some point.
“I’ll make the promise to you now, whenever I do go back to WrestleMania, I gotta have you guys out,” Johnson said, promising that the hosts would be his special guests.
The comment comes after a lengthy absence from WWE television. Johnson's most recent appearance was at Elimination Chamber 2025, where he played a pivotal role in John Cena's shocking heel turn and further established his “Final Boss” persona.
His last match, meanwhile, took place at WrestleMania 40. The Rock teamed with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in one of the event's most heavily discussed encounters.
Hollywood commitments could complicate The Rock’s WWE return
Although Johnson's comments have sparked speculation, they don't confirm that he’ll appear at WrestleMania 43. The 2027 event is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the first time WrestleMania will be held outside North America.
One major obstacle could be Johnson's increasingly busy Hollywood schedule. He’s expected to return as Luke Hobbs in Fast Forever, the planned final mainline installment of the Fast & Furious franchise.
Production is expected to begin in December 2026, with the movie currently scheduled for release in March 2028.
That could create a significant scheduling challenge if WWE hopes to bring Johnson back for a match. An in-ring comeback, particularly one involving a major WrestleMania storyline, would require substantial physical preparation and training.
Johnson had previously appeared to be part of the direction surrounding Cody Rhodes and John Cena , but he ultimately didn't participate in their WrestleMania 41 championship showdown.
There’s no confirmed opponent, storyline or date for The Rock's next WWE appearance. Still, his promise suggests that another WrestleMania entrance could eventually become reality.
The only question is whether his movie commitments will determine when fans finally see The Final Boss step through the ropes again.
