Former WWE Divas Champion Kelly Kelly has fueled speculation about a potential return to the promotion after an unexpected production error during Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia.

The September 6 show featured a stacked card, but an unusual moment during one of the night’s matches quickly became a talking point among wrestling fans.

Before the six-woman tag team bout, Tatum Paxley began making her way toward the ring when Kelly Kelly’s name and familiar entrance graphics unexpectedly appeared on the arena’s giant screen.

The mistake lasted only briefly before WWE’s production team corrected it and switched the display to Paxley’s intended entrance presentation.

Although the graphic disappeared quickly, viewers had already spotted the error, leading to immediate speculation about whether Kelly could be preparing for another WWE appearance.

Kelly herself appeared to find the situation amusing. The former champion shared a screenshot of the botched entrance on her Instagram Stories and directly addressed the possibility that the incident could have been more than a simple mistake.

“Well, someone hit the wrong button… should I take this as a hint?” she wrote.

Her response naturally added fuel to the rumors, although there’s currently no indication that WWE deliberately used her graphics as part of a planned return angle.

Kelly Kelly’s WWE journey and potential comeback

Kelly first joined WWE in 2006, initially appearing on the ECW brand. She later moved to Raw, where she established herself as one of the more recognizable performers in the company’s women’s division and began pursuing the Divas Championship.

Her biggest career achievement came in 2011 when she defeated Brie Bella on Raw to win the Divas Championship. Kelly enjoyed a reign lasting more than 100 days before eventually dropping the title.

She remained with WWE through 2012 before departing from her full-time role. However, her relationship with the company didn't completely end. Kelly returned for special appearances and matches over the following years, including the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2022.

That Royal Rumble appearance remains her most recent televised WWE match. She entered the 30-woman contest at No. 4 before being eliminated by Sasha Banks . The match was ultimately won by Ronda Rousey.

Kelly has also continued to have a connection with WWE through its Legends program. That makes another appearance possible, particularly if WWE decides to bring back a familiar name for a major event or storyline.

Fans shouldn't interpret the production mistake as confirmation of an imminent comeback. There was no announcement or storyline development during Sunday Night’s Main Event indicating that Kelly is returning to the active roster.

Paxley ultimately competed alongside Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss against Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab , with Cargill’s team picking up the victory.

Kelly may have only appeared on the screen because someone selected the wrong entrance package, but her cheeky response has certainly given fans another reason to wonder whether the former Divas Champion could be ready to step back into a WWE ring.
