Giannis Antetokounmpo called "dumb as hell" one day after effort gets called into question
It hasn't gone to plan in the Giannis era for the 3-6 Miami Heat.
As the splash signing of the summer in the NBA , expectations were very high for Giannis Antetkounmpo as he became the new face of the franchise for the Miami Heat . Through nine games, it isn't exactly going as planned.
Giannis himself has been, well, himself. He's averaging a cool 27.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game . But the team isn't gelling together yet, as they sport a 3-6 record and aren't even close to competing for a title if things continue.
More concerning following their loss to the Golden State Warriors was that Antetokounmpo’s effort was called into question. A clip of lazy defense on his part went viral on social media, sparking outrage among some Heat fans.
Nick Young says Giannis Antetokounmpo has "Gyro Greek brain"
Shortly after that, former NBA player Nick Young lit into Giannis; not necessarily for his effort, but more for being “ dumb as hell ” in his opinion.
Fans came out to defend Giannis, rightly pointing out that Young wasn't exactly a high IQ player in his day and age. Clearly, though, there's a target on Giannis’ back right now.
