Jimmy Butler goes wild on sideline after Steph Curry's viral moment against Luka and the Lakers

Steph Curry has spent years making defenders look helpless with his shooting, ballhandling and ability to create separation in the smallest of spaces. But every now and then, the Golden State Warriors superstar produces a moment that leaves even his teammates struggling to contain their laughter.

That was the case against the Los Angeles Lakers, when Curry's slick move left Luka Doncic on the floor and gave Jimmy Butler a reason to celebrate from the sideline.

The Warriors ultimately pulled off an impressive 112-95 victory over the Lakers in NBA Cup action , overcoming a 25-point deficit to even their 2026 record at 3-3. Curry led Golden State with 31 points, but one particular sequence in the third quarter became one of the night's most entertaining highlights.

The crowd erupted after Curry's magic on the floor

With the Warriors trailing 69-60, Golden State desperately needed someone to change the momentum. Curry , as he has done countless times throughout his career, took responsibility.

The veteran guard dribbled toward the left side of the Lakers' rim , with Doncic closely tracking his movements. But as Curry continued to handle the ball, the Slovenian star lost his footing and went down to the court. Steph took advantage of the space, rising to knock down a three-pointer that cut the Lakers' lead to six.

The crowd erupted, and Curry himself appeared surprised by what had just happened, putting his hands on his head as the shot went through the basket.

Jimmy Butler couldn't stop laughing

While Curry was busy making another highlight, Butler was enjoying the show from the Warriors' bench. The Golden State forward was left in stitches after watching Doncic fall during the sequence. When Curry returned to the sideline, the two teammates shared a laugh, with Butler visibly entertained by what had just unfolded.

The moment provided some comic relief during a game that had become increasingly competitive. Butler's reaction also showed how much the Warriors enjoyed watching their superstar deliver another spectacular play against one of their biggest Western Conference rivals.

Curry and Butler have developed an entertaining on-court partnership since joining forces in Golden State . Their chemistry has become an important part of the Warriors' identity, and moments like this offer a glimpse of the camaraderie behind the team's pursuit of another championship.

The three-pointer against Doncic was more than just an amusing highlight. It helped ignite a Golden State rally that completely changed the direction of the game. The Warriors had fallen behind by as many as 25 points, but Curry and his teammates gradually chipped away at the Lakers' advantage before taking control.
