The Indiana Fever saw their five-game winning streak come to an end after falling to the Dallas Wings in a game where their top players were unable to find their best offensive form.

Indiana got off to a strong start, but the momentum quickly shifted. Caitlin Clark had one of her quietest offensive nights of the season, finishing with just 10 points after shooting 4-of-15 from the field . The Fever guard made up for it somewhat with 9 assists , but she was unable to establish her usual rhythm.

On the other side, Paige Bueckers also failed to replicate the standout performance she delivered in the previous matchup between the two teams. The two young stars had a disappointing showdown, with Bueckers finishing with 13 points on just 5-of-16 shooting .

The lone exception for Indiana was Kelsey Mitchell , who continued her incredible scoring run. The guard surpassed 20 points for the 21st consecutive game , setting a new WNBA record for consecutive games reaching that mark. Mitchell finished the night with 37 points .

However, Dallas found answers from multiple players. Jessica Shepard delivered a historic performance with 26 points, a career high, carrying the Wings’ offense in the first half. Then Arike Ogunbowale took over in the second half, finishing the game with 32 points.

Meanwhile, Awak Kuier took advantage of her opportunity as a starter with Azzi Fudd sidelined due to injury. The Dallas forward made a major impact defensively, recording 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocks , consistently disrupting Indiana’s drives to the basket.

The Fever also struggled on the boards. Dallas won the rebounding battle 32-28 , a difference that proved crucial in the final outcome.

Fever continue a challenging road trip

The loss came during one of the toughest stretches of Indiana’s schedule. It was the t hird road game of a five-game trip in just eight days .

Before visiting Dallas , the Fever picked up important wins in Atlanta and Toronto , but they now must quickly regroup. Indiana will face the New York Liberty in Brooklyn on Saturday before finishing the trip against the Chicago Sky on Sunday.

While every victory matters in the race for playoff positioning and the chance to secure home-court advantage in the first round, keeping the team healthy throughout this demanding stretch is just as important.

After this road trip, Indiana will play one final home game against the Connecticut Sun on August 28 before the break for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup .

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston will represent the United States in the tournament in Berlin, and the break could provide a valuable reset as both players share the court with a star-studded roster.

With the loss, the Fever dropped to 24-13 and remain in a tight battle with the Las Vegas Aces and the Atlanta Dream to determine the third through fifth seeds in the standings.
