Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez don't get special treatment in Miami: Their painfully slow process for exclusive membership
Being the founder of Amazon isn't enough credibility for one place in South Florida.

When you're the fourth-richest person in the world , you can practically live wherever you want. For Jeff Bezos , that has meant owning property in Seattle , Beverly Hills , Washington D.C ., New York City , West Texas , and even Maui .
But since 2023, Bezos and wife Lauren Sanchez have set up shop in Miami . More specifically, Bezos owns several properties on the exclusive Indian Creek Island , which is east of Miami Shores and north of Miami Beach . The man-made island has been dubbed " Billionaire Bunker " due to the incredible list of affluent people who own property there. Mark Zuckerberg recently purchased property there.
With the likes of Tom Brady , Ivanka Trump , and Jared Kushner serving as neighbors, Bezos should have no issues getting along with the community. But there's one aspect of the island that he and Sanchez are having trouble with: A membership at the Indian Creek Country Club .
Despite moving to Indian Creek Island in 2023, Jeff Bezos still hasn't been accepted into their country club
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal , Bezos and Sanchez are still in a holding pattern regarding their membership for the country club. Just because he's one of the richest people in the world doesn't mean Bezos is being allowed to skip the exclusive line . Per the report, those who are already members of the club aren't too fond of outside billionaires just coming in and joining .
The old guard — many of them retirees — are mounting a last stand against what they often view as billionaire interlopers... No one is going to make it easy because he is Jeff Bezos. You have to go to mixers. You don’t just move there and think you can get in. For anyone. There aren’t that many golf clubs [in Miami], and there is huge demand. It’s very hard to get into any of them, but Indian Creek is the hardest. People need to know them
It will take some work, particularly socializing, in order for the married couple to be accepted into the country club. Given that it's already taken so long, the " slow process " is only just beginning.
