T aylor Swift may be able to fill stadiums, top the music charts , and turn almost any detail of her life into a hot topic, but there's one quirky habit she's held onto since her teenage years that you probably wouldn't expect: she still loves talking like a character from a 2000s comedy!

The story began when Taylor was just 14 years old and moved to Nashville to pursue her music career. She was the new girl in town, starting a chapter of her life filled with changes, but she soon found someone who shared her sense of humor: Abigail Anderson, who would eventually become one of her closest friends .

One of the inside jokes they came up with involved Napoleon Dynamite, the 2004 comedy starring Jon Heder . The two started imitating the main character's unusual way of speaking, and apparently, neither has found a reason to stop.

More than two decades after they first met, the tradition is still going strong. Taylor recently proved it in front of an audience that couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Taylor Swift brings back her teenage inside joke with a hilarious impression

The story came up during a conversation in New York with Andrew Stanton, director of Toy Story 5 , and moderator Jessica Shaw , following a screening of the film. While discussing the importance of finding people who share your sense of humor, Taylor recalled the unique connection she had formed with Abigail.

The singer explained that the two used to talk like the main character in Napoleon Dynamite . But she didn't just tell the story; she decided to give everyone a little demonstration, imitating the character's signature deep, monotone voice in front of the audience. The result was plenty of laughter and a reminder that some inside jokes never get old.

Beyond the funny confession, Taylor also explained why that connection means so much to her. The movie made her think about how special it is to find someone you can share your sense of humor with without holding back, even when it means doing the most ridiculous things.

And Abigail seems to be exactly that person. From their teenage years in Nashville to their lives today, the two have maintained a friendship that needs very little explanation. Still, Travis Kelce may have to get used to his fiancée occasionally swapping her usual voice for that of Napoleon Dynamite .
