For a very long time, practically since the release of his debut studio album " X 100pre ", Bad Bunny has done nothing but win and win big. He continues to break records of all kinds, and only seems to be getting better at 32 years old .

But eventually, he was going to have to deal with some sort of setback. That's just the nature of the game, although this time it came in a somewhat unexpected manner: in the courtroom of all places . Yet his loss came after he actually got another win .

Bad Bunny's legal team was recently put to work due to a copyright lawsuit waged on the music artist's team . The song " Enséñame a Bailar " from his iconic " Un Verano Sin Ti " album was claimed to have used a sample from Nigerian music artist Dera 's song, " Empty My Pocket ", without permission.

Empawa Africa Music Services Limited filed the lawsuit in May of 2025, only to drop it later once it was confirmed that Bad Bunny's team had properly cleared the sample through one of the copyright holders, Lakizo Entertainment .

But even though Bad Bunny won the lawsuit, his legal team sought reimbursement for the $465,615 in legal fees the lawsuit ended up costing.

That follow-up legal battle didn't pan out as expected for Bad Bunny. The judge ultimately ruled that the initial lawsuit was "objectively reasonable", and that making Empawa pay for all of the legal costs would be "strongly antithetical" .

Bad Bunny is now on the hook for that chunk of change , although given his incredible fortune - which is only growing - he should be able to withstand the financial hit.
