Rumors surrounding George Pickens and the Dallas Cowboys continue to grow, but the team’s focus is now locked on its next challenge: a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals that carries some recent uncomfortable history for Dallas.

Heading into the NFL’s Week 8 game , CeeDee Lamb acknowledged there is special motivation in facing Arizona, a team that has become a genuine nightmare for the Cowboys in recent years.

The star receiver is still looking for his first career win against the Cardinals after a losing streak that has followed him since he entered the league.

CeeDee Lamb wants to end Arizona’s dominance

Lamb was asked whether the Cowboys are approaching this week with a different level of focus after last season’s loss to Arizona.

“I’ve never beat the Cardinals since I’ve been in the league, so that’s kind of fair to say,” Lamb said. “I wouldn’t say heightened focus, but it’s definitely another take.”

The reality is that Arizona has owned this recent rivalry. The Cardinals have won four straight meetings against Dallas (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2025) , including three victories at AT&T Stadium .

For Lamb, one of the keys to Arizona’s success against the Cowboys has been the intensity they bring to these games.

“They’ve always had more energy,” Lamb said. “Just coming out in the game, they’re more excited regardless of if it was at 12 o’clock, Sunday night, Monday night. We played them in primetime. They beat us there. So just coming in, treating them as if they are a Super Bowl-contending team, which they may be, you know what I’m saying? So hats off to them in their prep. And we just got to go match them, if not overpower them.”

Cowboys arrive with confidence after beating the Eagles

Although Lamb’s comment about Arizona as a potential contender raised eyebrows among some fans, Dallas heads into the game with momentum from one of its strongest offensive performances of the season.

The Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night , restoring confidence after weeks of criticism.

For Lamb, that win confirmed the team had rediscovered its identity.

“No, that’s exactly who we are. We’re better balanced,” he said. “We could beat you in a run game. We could beat you in the pass [game].”

CeeDee Lamb believes he can beat any coverage

Beyond the team’s overall performance, Lamb also made clear that he has complete confidence in his individual talent and ability to create problems for any defense.

“I think my ability to line up anywhere in the offense and run any route on the route tree,” Lamb said. “I feel like I could (beat) anybody in front of me, and I’m standing on that.”

Now the Cowboys will look to build on the momentum from their win over Philadelphia while ending a streak that has turned the Cardinals into one of their toughest recent opponents.
