Is a George Pickens trade really possible? In Jerry’s World anything can happen
The Cowboys insist George Pickens remains a key piece, but with the trade deadline approaching, Jerry Jones’ unpredictable history keeps the door open to a shocking move.

The Dallas Cowboys enter NFL Week 8 with renewed confidence after one of their best performances of the season, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night. However, one situation continues to generate questions within the team: the future of George Pickens .
The star wide receiver returned to the center of the conversation after head coach Brian Schottenheimer questioned his impact beyond the passing game, and his role during the win over Philadelphia fueled speculation about a potential move before the NFL trade deadline .
With the deadline set for November 10 , a fan asked respected NFL insider Tom Pelissero on Substack about the possibility of Dallas making a surprise move and sending Pickens to another team, despite owner Jerry Jones downplaying the chances of a trade.
Pelissero said he is not ruling out any scenario, especially because the Cowboys continue to look for help at one of their biggest areas of need: the pass rusher position. However, he acknowledged that including Pickens in a potential deal would be a complicated decision.
“Making as many trades as the Cowboys have since the Micah Parsons blockbuster naturally depletes draft capital—but if there’s a will, there’s a way. Edge rusher is the biggest need on Dallas’s defense, so I wouldn’t rule anything out. They were, after all, the runner-up in the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes last March,” Pelissero wrote.
Will the Cowboys actually trade George Pickens?
Although Pickens had a strong performance against the Eagles with four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown , it drew attention that he played 12 fewer snaps than Ryan Flournoy .
The situation came after Schottenheimer said on October 22 that the receiver needed to understand that he also has an important impact on the Cowboys’ running game.
Despite the speculation, Pelissero believes it is unlikely that Dallas will move on from one of its top offensive weapons before the deadline.
“As for Pickens, he’s still an important piece of the Dallas offense, and the Cowboys won’t be out of the NFC East race in 12 days. Also, he’s making over $1.5 million on the franchise tag, so a team would need a big chunk of cash and cap space to make it work.”
For now, all indications point toward Pickens remaining in Dallas , although his role within the offense will be one of the biggest storylines to monitor as the trade deadline approaches.
